This role ensures accurate discovery and CMDB population, mapping critical infrastructure dependencies to business services while leveraging automation workflows and integrations with enterprise tools. As a subject matter expert, the SME will drive operational transparency and regulatory adherence, mitigate lifecycle risks, and provide measurable value through improved data accuracy and reporting. HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT: - Lead the architecture, configuration, and optimization of ServiceNow ITOM Discovery implementations. - Design and manage discovery patterns for identifying servers, network devices, databases, cloud resources, containers, and virtualization platforms. - Configure discovery schedules, credentials, probes, sensors, and MID server architecture across CMS’ enterprise infrastructure. - Ensure high CMDB data accuracy and completeness by defining identification and reconciliation rules. - Implement normalization processes to align discovered data with IT asset lifecycle workflows. - Manage duplicate CI elimination and enforce authoritative data source validation for CMDB governance. - Implement ServiceNow Service Mapping to align business services with their underlying infrastructure components. - Map relationships and dependencies between hardware, applications, and services to enable impact analysis during incidents. - Provide visibility into hybrid environments, including cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), on-prem servers, and containerized systems. - Develop and integrate discovery processes with enterprise tools, such as monitoring platforms (Dynatrace, Splunk), cloud providers, and ITAM systems. - Build automation workflows using MID servers, APIs, scripted probes, and sensors to improve ITOM reliability and efficiency. - Track end-of-life (EOL) and compliance statuses across discovered assets to mitigate audit risks. - Collaborate with SAM Analysts and Procurement teams for proactive lifecycle tracking and renewal notifications. - Provide audit-ready asset intelligence by reconciling discovered data with compliance requirements and CMS operational policies. - Act as the SME for ServiceNow ITOM Discovery and CMDB integrations across CMS IT environments. - Provide technical guidance to platform teams, ServiceNow developers, and IT administrators for troubleshooting discovery failures. The likely salary range for this position is $112,840 - $149,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
