Bioinformatics Specialist II - Remote

Labcorp is seeking a US remote based Bioinformatics Specialist II to join it's team to support our Invitae Genetics lab. Work Schedule: Tuesday-Saturday, 8am-5pm (candidate local time zone) Job Responsibilities: - Ensure and maintain the delivery of accurate clinical reports by reviewing batch and sample level data for patient samples - Create tools and workflows to ensure the accurate processing and troubleshooting of sample data and clinical systems - Next generation sequencing (NGS) performance metric definition, analysis, and monitoring - Assess and troubleshoot the data systems that orchestrate the lab and bioinformatics processes - Track and improve measures of operational excellence (e.g. order turnaround time) - Address production bottlenecks, investigate their causes, and facilitate solutions - Serve as a subject matter expert representing the team in incident responses, process improvements, and product development - Execute SOP development and improvement - Develop software scripts and queries for analysis and automation - Monitor delayed samples and support their resolution - Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including being able to commit to periodic weekend support Minimum Qualifications: - High School diploma or equivalent with 9 years or more of experience working in a molecular biology environment (such as lab work, automation, or data analysis) OR Bachelors degree with 5 years or more of experience working in a molecular biology environment (such as lab work, automation, or data analysis) OR Masters degree with 3 years or more of experience working in a molecular biology environment (such as lab work, automation, or data analysis) OR Ph.D. with 1 year or more of experience working in a molecular biology environment (such as lab work, automation, or data analysis) - 1 year or more experience working in a high throughput manufacturing or lab processing environment - 1 year or more experience with troubleshooting or process improvement for lab or software pipelines Preferred Qualifications: - 1 year or more of hands-on Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) wet lab experience - 1 year or more experience with bash scripting Additional Job Standards: - Strong process analysis, design, and improvement experience - Working knowledge of molecular genetics and experience with next generation sequencing (NGS) data, in a production setting - Strong experience manipulating data and troubleshooting applications in UNIX-based environments - Strong experience writing scripts to analyze data (e.g. Python, R) and well versed in software version control methods (e.g. Git) - Strong database querying experience (e.g. PostgreSQL) - Superior oral and written communication skills and the ability to clearly communicate technical findings to non-technical teammates - Familiarity with LIMS best practices and working in a high throughput lab environment - Excellent ability to work with people across different teams and specializations Application Window Closes: 3/27/26 **Salary Range: $90,000 - $110,000 / year All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.
