Why this role exists Instructional quality is at the core of learner success at IMMERSE. As we continue to scale across languages and programs, we need a dedicated leader to support, coach, and develop our global Guide team. The Instructor Success Manager owns the ongoing performance, development, and retention of Guides across all programs. This role ensures consistent instructional excellence through observation, coaching, and professional development, while also serving as a key bridge between Guides and internal teams like Curriculum and Research. What you will own in your first 90 days You will take full ownership of Guide performance and development across assigned programs, including: - Leading Guide observations and delivering actionable coaching feedback - Establishing consistent 1:1 rhythms and performance tracking in Coda - Identifying trends in instructional quality and surfacing insights to internal teams - Supporting hiring decisions through final-round interviews and teaching evaluations - Building trust and rapport with Guides to improve engagement and retention What this role is focused on We are looking for someone who consistently demonstrates: - Strong coaching and feedback delivery skills - High ownership of team performance and outcomes - The ability to identify patterns across individuals and systems - Clear, empathetic communication across cultures and experience levels - A deep commitment to instructional quality and learner outcomes Key Responsibilities Teaching & Platform Expertise - Teach 5 classes per week (including subbing) to stay deeply connected to the platform experience - Serve as a model instructor demonstrating best practices in immersive VR teaching Observation & Coaching - Conduct quarterly formal observations for all active Guides - Create and implement coaching plans for low-performing Guides - Identify recurring instructional gaps and trends across the Guide cohort - Collaborate with the Teaching Excellence team to align coaching with professional development offerings - Provide structured insights to Curriculum and Research teams, including: - Feedback on lesson pacing, content load, and activity effectiveness - Observations on learner engagement and comprehension in VR environments - Recommendations to improve instructional strategies and learning outcomes Performance Management - Lead bi-annual 360 performance reviews for all Guides - Facilitate monthly 1:1 check-ins and track progress in Coda - Address ≤3-star learner feedback through targeted coaching and follow-up - Take over Guide performance ownership after the 30-day onboarding handoff Collaboration & Compliance - Own the review of Guide class notes and escalate insights or concerns to relevant teams - Act as a key cross-functional partner to ensure alignment between instruction, curriculum, and learner experience Hiring & Evaluation - Participate in final-round interviews to assess teaching ability and cultural fit - Evaluate candidates through teaching demos and standardized rubrics - Provide hiring recommendations to the CLO and Learning Experience & Onboarding Manager Required experience To be successful in this role, you must have: - Experience in coaching, teaching, or instructional leadership - Strong performance management and feedback delivery skills - Ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative data to identify trends - Excellent communication and relationship-building skills - High level of organization and ability to manage multiple Guides simultaneously Nice to have - Experience in language learning or ESL environments - Familiarity with VR or immersive learning platforms - Experience working with distributed or global teams - Background in curriculum, education, or instructional design This role is likely not a fit if - You prefer working independently without regular coaching conversations - You are uncomfortable delivering direct, constructive feedback - You are not detail-oriented in tracking performance and follow-ups - You prefer static roles over dynamic, people-focused work Benefits - Equity compensation via stock options - Three weeks of paid vacation annually - 401(k) - Health, dental, and vision plans - 100% remote - Hardware stipend - Annual learning & development stipend - Co-working membership stipend
