Role Description We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for experienced copy editors with strong backgrounds in proofreading, journalism, publishing, technical editing, and high-precision editorial work in American English. This role supports an exciting collaboration focused on high-quality written content across a range of AI training initiatives. Selected professionals will edit and refine complex written materials, helping ensure clarity, consistency, grammatical precision, and stylistic excellence across high-volume editorial workflows. This opportunity is ideal for detail-oriented language professionals with exceptional command of English, strong editorial judgment, and a meticulous eye for consistency and quality. Key Responsibilities - Copy Editing & Proofreading - Edit and proofread written content for grammar, spelling, punctuation, syntax, and clarity. - Improve structure, readability, and logical flow without altering the intended meaning. - Maintain high standards of precision across large volumes of written material. - Editorial Consistency & Style Enforcement - Ensure consistency in tone, style, formatting, and terminology across documents. - Enforce style guide adherence and maintain strong editorial standards. - Apply professional editorial judgment to preserve quality, coherence, and readability. - Content Review & Quality Feedback - Identify ambiguities, inconsistencies, and factual or structural issues. - Flag unclear instructions, weak reasoning, or editorial risks in source material. - Provide thoughtful feedback to improve overall content quality. Qualifications - 5+ years of proven professional experience in copy editing, proofreading, journalism, publishing, technical editing, or a related field. - Exceptional written and grammatical command of English, with native or near-native proficiency. - A demonstrated history of high-precision editorial work with minimal error rates. - Extremely strong attention to detail and the ability to catch subtle inconsistencies. - Strong familiarity with style guides such as Chicago, AP, MLA, or equivalent frameworks. - Ability to work independently while maintaining consistent quality standards. - Reliable availability and consistent engagement over time. Requirements - Experience handling high-volume editorial review workflows. - Strong background in style guide application across multiple content types. - Ability to provide sharp editorial feedback while preserving intended meaning and tone.
