Job Description

Commissioning Engineer

Qualus

• Plan, schedule, and perform work for large projects and programs • Responsible for defining appropriate visual checks, measurements and tests that will be required to verify that the design and construction of a substation modification is appropriate for the intended application • Manage subcontractors’ scope of work and quality control • Lead meetings with owner, operation and maintenance, design and construction personnel to understand project goals and schedule to ensure commissioning is properly coordinated • Prepare commissioning plans, specifications and checklist and functional test documentation based on client and company standards • Review design, equipment submittals, operation and maintenance manual, start-up reports, checklists • Perform site visits to coordinate commissioning, evaluate new and existing systems, witness equipment start-up and testing

Job Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university preferred
  • A minimum of 5 years of direct or related experience with testing and commissioning in a utility substation environment
  • Strong facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills
  • Highly effective communicator with clear and concise writing and presentation skills
  • High level of attention to detail with ability to quality-review work
  • Proficient computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Experience providing leadership to a diverse project team a plus
