Senior Automation Engineer, MES & Digital

• The Senior Automation Engineer provides subject matter expertise in the design, implementation, and lifecycle management of digital systems • Develop system architectures and data flows for biologics, pharmaceutical, and advanced therapy manufacturing • Lead the creation, review, and approval of URS, FRS, DS / DDS, Functional & Control Narratives • Configure, program, and deploy Digital System within the manufacturing environment • Ensure all changes meet data integrity requirements, change control processes, and validation lifecycle rules • Serve as SME for troubleshooting, system optimization, batch failure analysis, and performance enhancements • Collaborate with IT/OT, process engineering, MSAT, quality, and capital project teams to deliver integrated system solutions
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Automation, Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, or related)
- Minimum 9-12+ years in automation engineering within GMP life sciences (biotech, pharma, ATMP)
- Expert-level experience with various MES platforms, Data Repositories, Serialization and integration to manufacturing applications (ERP, LIMS, CMMS, etc)
- Proven ability to author, interpret, and own URS/FRS/DS documentation
- Experience designing system applications and data flows across the full spectrum of manufacturing applications
- Strong understanding of ISA-88 batch control, ISA-95 manufacturing hierarchy, and GAMP5
- Hands-on experience supporting biologics and sterile/aseptic manufacturing environments

Description Overview General Motors is seeking a highly motivated Calibration Engineer - Virtual Capability & Automation Specialist to advance the development of virtual capabilities that accelerate and optimize EV propulsion calibration. This role focuses on building scalable simulation environments, automation tools, and data workflows that reduce development time, improve model accuracy, and enable efficient calibration through virtual-first methods. Key Responsibilities - Develop and deploy virtual calibration models, tools, and environments using simulation platforms such as MATLAB/Simulink, Co-Simulation frameworks, and related technologies. - Create and maintain automation workflows for calibration execution, data processing, and report generation using Python, C++, or similar programming languages. - Integrate virtual calibration solutions with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) systems to support end-to-end validation. - Partner with propulsion calibration teams to identify process inefficiencies and implement virtual and automated solutions that improve speed, quality, and repeatability. - Analyze simulation and vehicle test data to validate models and refine calibration strategies. - Document tools, workflows, and best practices to support scalable adoption across teams. - Provide training and technical support to engineers using virtual calibration and automation tools. - Collaborate cross-functionally to define requirements and roadmap enhancements for future virtual capabilities.
