Role Description We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team in a remote role in O’ahu, Hawaii reporting to the main office in Tustin, California. This position is responsible for the design of building electrical systems, including power, lighting, fire alarm, and special systems, with a strong emphasis on healthcare projects. Key Responsibilities - Develop electrical system designs in accordance with project scope, client requirements, applicable codes, and industry standards. - Provide engineering planning, design, and construction administration services for: - Power distribution systems - Lighting and lighting control systems - Fire alarm systems - Nurse Call systems - Other low voltage systems - Perform existing building surveys and document current electrical and fire alarm conditions. - Prepare, edit, and coordinate electrical specifications and construction documents. - Author engineering reports, assessment reports, and Basis of Design (BOD) documents. - Coordinate closely with internal project teams, architects, and other engineering disciplines. - Participate in and lead technical discussions, design coordination meetings, and client presentations. - Support construction administration activities, including RFIs, submittal reviews, and field coordination as needed. - Assist Project Managers with technical input, schedule coordination, and project execution. Qualifications - Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field. - Minimum of 5 years of electrical design experience. - Experience with healthcare, science and technology, education, and/or commercial buildings is strongly preferred. - Knowledge of and experience with HCAI / OSHPD standards is a plus. - Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred. - LEED accreditation or sustainable design experience preferred. - Proficiency in electrical engineering calculations, including: - Lighting photometric calculations - Voltage drop analysis - Short-circuit and overcurrent protection coordination studies - Load Calculations Skills & Abilities - Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office. - Strong working knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards, and design guidelines. - High level of attention to detail with a commitment to quality and accuracy. - Excellent work ethic with a proactive, solution-oriented attitude. - Strong written and verbal communication skills. - Effective time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks. - Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. - Comfortable engaging with clients and presenting technical information in a clear and professional manner. About This Role As part of Intersect’s Engineering team, you will direct the design, coordination, and technical oversight of high-voltage (HV) and medium-voltage (MV) systems across different technology and resources such as solar, wind, battery storage, datacenter, and natural gas projects. What You’ll Do - Oversee the development and review of preliminary HV transmission and substation designs, as well as MV distribution/collector designs. - Lead and manage EPCs, engineers of record, and external consultants to optimize facility design and execution. - Strategize and govern the maintenance and improvement of internal design tools for engineering analysis and calculation. - Drive and lead recurring meetings with utilities to advance interconnection discussions from development through commissioning. - Lead the support and review of interconnection applications and dynamic models to ensure accuracy and compliance. - Serve as the primary Engineering Manager for Independent Engineer (IE) diligence and project financing reviews. - Establish, develop, and govern technical specifications, design criteria, standards, and EPC technical exhibits. - Lead the review of vendor specifications, testing protocols, and commercial agreements to ensure alignment with project requirements and cost optimization. - Manage the EPC RFP process to ensure technical requirements are clearly defined and competitive. - Manage and coordinate with Development, Land, Permitting, Construction, and Operations teams to ensure seamless project delivery. - Direct the resolution of regulatory, permitting, and complex technical challenges with a focus on cost, schedule, and quality. - Instill and champion high standards of safety, environmental stewardship, and constructability across all engineering activities. Position Summary  Terabase is seeking a highly technical Controls Engineer to work on Plant Controls Product team.
