Position Overview RIVA Solutions is seeking a Sr. Network Engineering specialist to provide technical engineering and operations support to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) under the NEITS program. This role directly supports NOAA’s N-Wave mission—an enterprise high-performance network connecting research centers, observational platforms, and mission operations across the nation. This role supports program analysts, program managers, and telecommunications/network engineering teams. The selected candidate will demonstrate ability to combine network knowledge with hands-on technical skills to support both projects and O&M tasks. Successful applicants are expected to possess foundational-to-intermediate technical understanding of network engineering concepts, configure products, troubleshoot issues, and support improvements through engineering architecture and design sessions across the N-Wave mission. This position is ideal for someone already knowledgeable and familiar with the NEITS N-Wave program, familiar with the NOAA NESDIS mission, and, comfortable working on a technical engineering team while being self-starter to execute operational tasks with only minimal supervision. Core Responsibilities - Provide Project Support (including Remote Projects): Server/Systems/Network infrastructure implementation projects, providing: - Network engineering technical input and hands-on services, as needed. - CO-OPS Chesapeake MLAN Migration Planning, including client install scheduling, deployment verifications, and development of technical documents such as port mapping, operating procedures, visio diagrams, ICDs, etc. - Ability to identify technical risks and assist in recommending and/or developing risk mitigation strategies. - Project scoping support for client-requested new services, including requirements elicitation, timelines, - Coordination of internal meetings with technical and program stakeholders, including agendas, meeting minutes, and action item tracking. - Track and manage N-Wave program milestones, deliverables, dependencies, and operational timelines. - Provide technical input on Requests for Quotes (RFQs) related to network infrastructure and transport layer projects such as implementation, redesign, modernization, and/or movement of intra- and inter-building of network services. - Provide technical input and services on network redesigns, pier additions, implementation of Aruba MLAN technology, IPv6, intelligent service architecture (ISA), etc. - Assist in the resolution of Tier 2/Tier 3 trouble ticket and service requests documented in the NOAA Ticketing System.
