Head of Finance
Ascension Executive Recruitment
• Provides financial and strategic guidance to AV. • Provides leadership in accounting, financial reporting, finance operations, and fund administration. • Collaborate with the Director of Finance, AV, to oversee all aspects of annual, quarterly, and monthly financial reporting, including portfolio valuation and analysis. • Collaborate with the Director of Finance, AV, to oversee the annual external audit and tax return preparation processes. • Oversee all finance-related materials for the AV Board of Managers meetings and committees, as well as AV-related updates for Ascension and other limited partners. • Develop and present management reports to the AV team and Board of Managers, including performance metrics and industry benchmarks. • Assist in the investment closing process. • Coordinate execution of deal documents and funding of investments. • Partner with the AV investment team to understand portfolio company and pipeline opportunity businesses, performance, developments, challenges, and capital needs. • Responds to adhoc information and data requests from Ascension and other LPs. • Supports AV Senior Managing Director, Firm Lead, and Chief Administrative Officer with fund administration and fundraising. • Stays abreast of industry standards and practices to continually improve AV processes and reporting. • Performs a variety of special projects.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with 10 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required, with 5 of those years being in leadership/management.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or other appropriate field.
- CPA and MBA preferred, with at least 15 years of business experience, ideally in an investment firm (venture or private equity) or financial services organization.
- Private company finance, accounting, or analytical experience is a plus.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills, excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, collaborative style, critical thinking skills, attention to detail, decisive judgment, ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful, time-sensitive environment.

Role Description We are looking for a data-driven and operationally minded Senior Strategic Financial Analyst to serve as a key architect of our financial planning and reporting infrastructure. In this high-visibility role, you will go beyond traditional reporting to act as a strategic partner to our GTM, R&D, and Operations leaders. You will not only track the numbers but also define how we track them—bridging the gap between our CRM (Salesforce) and Finance systems to ensure data integrity.
