Overview We are seeking an expert‑level Senior Data Engineer to design and build a modern data foundation that transforms complex healthcare data into trusted, connected, and analytics‑ready intelligence. This role plays a critical part in supporting regulatory reporting, enterprise analytics, and long‑term interoperability strategy. You will operate at the intersection of data engineering and architecture, helping move the organization from basic data exchange to true, insight‑driven interoperability across clinical, claims, enrollment, quality, and regulatory domains. This is a hands‑on, highly autonomous role ideal for someone who enjoys owning complex problems and shaping data strategy from the ground up. Key Responsibilities - Design and implement a semantic and graph‑based data layer to connect healthcare data across multiple domains - Build and maintain knowledge graphs, ontologies, and semantic models that define and relate enterprise data - Engineer scalable data pipelines using Databricks (Spark, Delta Lake, Medallion Architecture) - Design and optimize graph persistence models using Azure Cosmos DB - Establish data lineage, metadata, and traceability frameworks to support audit and compliance requirements - Enable regulatory and analytics reporting by creating unified data definitions and impact analysis - Partner with analytics, finance, quality, and compliance teams to deliver interpretable and trusted datasets - Design data structures that support future AI and machine learning use cases Required Qualifications - 7–10+ years of experience in data engineering - Deep experience within the Azure ecosystem - Strong expertise in: - Semantic modeling and data architecture - Knowledge graphs and ontology design - Azure Cosmos DB (graph modeling and performance tuning) - Databricks (PySpark, Delta Lake, notebooks, structured streaming) - Data governance, lineage, and metadata frameworks - Strong understanding of healthcare payer data, including claims, clinical, eligibility, quality, and regulatory data - Proven ability to independently design and implement new data architectures with minimal oversight Ideal Candidate Profile - Thinks like an architect and executes like an engineer - Comfortable owning large, ambiguous initiatives - Proactive and anticipates data quality, compliance, and scalability challenges - Strong conceptual thinker who can translate complex relationships into usable data models - Confident communicator who can partner effectively with both technical and non‑technical teams Work Environment & Details - 100% Remote - Contract opportunity (6 months) - Agile, collaborative, and fast‑paced environment - High‑visibility initiative with meaningful ownership and impact Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Omaha, NE.
