JOB DESCRIPTION: As an Underwriting Consultant, the ideal candidate has extensive experience evaluating builders' risk, contractor equipment and transportation/logistics coverage for all industries. Joining the team as an Inland Marine Underwriting Consultant, you will be responsible for underwriting individual risks and managing a portfolio by leveraging strong technical underwriting acumen and developing key partner relationships. Our Underwriters must be willing to work within specific limits of authority & corporate guidelines for individual risks. You must be willing to collaborate with leadership assignments requiring significant technical complexity and be willing and eager to engage efficiently with distribution partners to develop strong internal and external relationships. Essential Skills & Responsibilities Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines: - Product Knowledge. Underwriter must possess fundamental knowledge of inland marine coverages with extensive experience in key lines of business including but not limited to Builders Risk, Contractors Equipment, Installation, Property, and Transportation/Logistics offerings. - Risk Assessment. Reviews applications and supporting documentation for a wide range of individual risks. Determines acceptability of risk in accordance with company guidelines and standards and determines adequate pricing based on individual risk exposures, loss experience, financial statements, technical underwriting philosophy and competitive analysis in line with compliance requirements. - Product Delivery & Effective Communication. Efficiently manages the communication required to review submissions, gather information, escalate and review with leadership as needed, prepare quotes, and deliver products to key partners. Early engagement with agents for any adverse underwriting decisions, rate appeals or declinations. - Portfolio Management & Collaboration. Drives top & bottom-line results by line of business, per business unit goals & metrics. Engages with other internal business units to drive results across the organization. - Market Facing. Markets products through in-person and virtual visits. Ability and desire to sell and negotiate on behalf of CNA to secure top & bottom-line results while developing key partnerships that are mutually beneficial for the company, our distribution partners, and customers. - Systems & Programs. JOB TITLE: Consumer Credit Analyst II DEPARTMENT: Dealer Services Ops STATUS: Non-Exempt JOB CODE: 1812 PAY SCALE: $30.76 - $33.00 Hourly GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Consumer Credit Analyst II - NLA is responsible for reviewing, analyzing and evaluating simple to complex secured and unsecured consumer loan applications and based on their judgment approve, modify or deny consistent with credit union guidelines. Consumer Credit Analyst II - NLA must clearly document and communicate the reasoning for the decision. Maintain and strengthen relationships with members, and internal and external originators. Maintain a thorough understanding of the credit union’s underwriting standards, risk philosophy, credit culture and market conditions. TASKS, DUTIES, FUNCTIONS: - Review, analyze, and evaluate loan applications based on established credit union policies and apply knowledge of underwriting procedures loan authority to approve counter or deny consumer loan applications by: - Evaluating and ensuring that the transaction is accurate, complete and compliant. - Reviewing required documentation for accuracy and truthfulness. - Applying fraud detection and prevention techniques. - Performing paystub and basic tax return analysis to determine ability to repay. - Maintain a thorough understanding of state and federal laws and regulations related to credit union compliance- including bank secrecy, anti-money laundering, Fair Lending and Truth in lending laws appropriate to the position. - Review credit reports and intemperate the data along with the analysis of key lending ratios to determine capacity, credit utilization, and Loan to Value. - Responsible for receiving and initiating phone inquiries and must communicate and interact with originator and external business partners to provide information or reasoning regarding loan decision. - Effectively address and resolve all complaints or issues raised by members, internal staff and business partners. - Gather information and perform analysis as requested to help prepare reports as directed. - Assist with training originators regarding lending policies, process or procedures, and in administering lending promotional campaigns. - Make recommendations and assist with updating product, policy and procedure materials pertaining to consumer lending. - Train personnel on lending policies and procedures. - Perform upgrade validations pertaining to lending systems. - Assist with other Lending duties as assigned.
