This role requires Arizona expertise, and ideally Utah, Texas and Colorado. The ideal candidate will possess the following skill set. Summary Statement Manage workers' compensation claims for insureds with loss-sensitive insurance programs, such as large deductibles and retrospectively rated policies. Conducts thorough investigations, evaluates claims, and ensures effective resolution while delivering exceptional customer service to insureds with loss sensitive insurance policies. Builds robust relationships by demonstrating strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills, with a focus on delivering quality claim outcomes and excellent service. Essential Tasks/Major Duties - Investigate losses, determine coverage, assess compensability, and review and analyze documents and legal pleadings. - Collaborate with legal counsel to manage litigated claims, leveraging experience to analyze documents and legal proceedings effectively. - Develop and execute proactive claim resolution strategies, including timely damage evaluations, negotiations, and settlements in accordance with guidelines. - Establish and maintain accurate claim reserves to reflect financial exposure, ensuring clear and proactive communication with the insured regarding rationale and potential impact. - Identify and engage external resources as needed to facilitate proper claim resolutions while monitoring and controlling costs. - Partner with insureds, medical providers, and injured workers to facilitate a safe and timely return to work when appropriate. - Collaborate proactively with agents, policyholders, and internal stakeholders to analyze claims trends, implement risk mitigation strategies, and provide claims education. - Prepare and deliver detailed claim summaries, reserve updates, and other analyses for agents and insureds. - Understand and assess loss-sensitive insurance programs, such as large deductible or retrospectively rated policies, keeping insureds informed of financial implications. - Mentor and train other claims handlers. RESPONSIBILITIES: - Evaluate and recommend appropriate underwriting decisions across lines of business, exercising a high level of field underwriting authority with Construction expertise. - Provide coaching and guidance to field underwriters on complex exposures, ensuring alignment with Amerisure’s Underwriting Philosophy. - Conduct field quality audits as required by the established field quality program, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring adherence to underwriting standards. - Identify opportunities to enhance underwriting quality within the field, collaborating with internal partners to create and implement training and development initiatives. - Serve as a subject matter expert in underwriting training programs, contributing to the design, development, and execution of training sessions for underwriters. - Collaborate with industry practices, product development, and risk management teams in the creation and enhancement of new products, forms, and services. - Collaborate with corporate underwriting team to assess business needs, providing recommendations for enhancements to underwriting controls, risk appetite, and underwriting tools to support the organization’s growth and profitability objectives. - As needed, manage a designated book of business, ensuring underwriting decisions align with company strategy and profitability goals. - Evaluate and secure facultative reinsurance as needed to mitigate risk and maintain the financial integrity of the organization. - Act as a key underwriting resource in cross-functional discussions to enhance underwriting processes, automation, and operational efficiencies. - Utilize underwriting analytics and emerging data sources to enhance risk selection, pricing, and portfolio management. - Provide insights and recommendations based on underwriting trends, loss experience, and emerging risks to refine underwriting strategies. REQUIREMENTS: - Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work-related experience - 5 years commercial property and casualty underwriting experience. - Must have Construction underwriting expertise. - Desire to develop deep knowledge and demonstrate thought leadership in designated specialty - AU, CIC, ARM, CRM, CRIS or CPCU designations preferred. - Proficient computer skills required, including Microsoft Office Suite. - Demonstrated successful ability to organize and prioritize work to ensure timely deadlines. - Strong interpersonal skills include the ability to effectively build relationships across all levels of the organization. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to deal with ambiguity. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with internal and external customers. - Travel required up to 10% #LI-CR1 Just as we are committed to creating exceptional value for our Partners For Success® agencies and policyholders, Amerisure also remains committed to being an employer of choice.
