Community Manager
Akamai Technologies
• Building and moderating a high-energy community on Discord, ensuring it remains a helpful, safe, and engaging space for technical discussion • Developing and executing a social media strategy that drives engagement and keeps our community informed on the latest trends and updates • Identifying and collaborating with industry influencers and key opinion leaders to expand our reach and build credibility within the ecosystem • Organizing and managing community initiatives such as contributor programs, beta testing groups, and developer recognition awards • Engaging with the community in person at events, conferences, and local meetups to strengthen relationships and represent the brand • Planning and executing virtual meetups, AMAs (Ask Me Anythings), and community-led workshops to foster knowledge sharing • Tracking and reporting on community health metrics, sentiment, and growth to inform broader marketing and produce strategies • Acting as a tireless advocate for the community internally, ensuring their feedback and needs are communicated to product and engineering teams
Job Requirements
- Have a Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of experience or its equivalent
- Have a proven track record of managing and growing online communities, particularly on Discord and technical social media platforms (X/Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.)
- Have experience identifying, reaching out to, and managing relationships with technical influencers and content creators
- Be a natural communicator with the ability to navigate complex community dynamics with empathy and professionalism
- Have experience organizing and hosting both virtual and in-person community events, meetups, or hackathons
- Be proactive in launching new initiatives that reward community participation and foster a sense of belonging
- Understand the developer mindset and be comfortable engaging in technical or semi-technical discussions
- Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple community channels simultaneously
