The High Risk Underwriting Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring that our High Risk merchants have a positive merchant experience and are onboarded in an efficient and compliant manner. The primary focus for this role will be to facilitate the merchant underwriting workflow for High Risk merchants who require partnership with our Compliance team, registration with the Card Brands, or have high credit risk exposure. A successful candidate will have experience in merchant risk underwriting, specifically reviewing and onboarding High Risk merchants (i.e. Adult, Dating, User Created Content, Gambling, Fantasy Sports, CBD, Money Service Businesses, Travel, Tickets, Events, etc.). What you will be doing: - Analyze a wide variety of applicants, business models in multiple credit card processing environments (card present and card not present), and segments (SMB, Mid-Market, Enterprise) - Partner with Compliance leaders to develop, enhance, and implement processes for reviewing and onboarding high risk merchants - Act as an escalation point, making decisions or recommendations, for internal/external customers - Provide Sales Partners with an additional layer of review and discretion to find a solution for accounts that have been pended, declined, or withdrawn, leading to an increase in approvals through smart exceptions - Conduct financial analysis, provide detailed recommendations, and act as an approver within authority level - Review and make recommendations to department policies and procedures based on changing industry trends or process adjustments - Identify team pain points, process bottlenecks, and recommend process improvements, driving process consistency, understanding, and development What we need from you: - Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, Accounting, Finance (or equivalent education and work experience) - Minimum of 5 years of merchant service work experience related to High Risk Underwriting - Minimum of 2 years experience leading a team in the Merchant Payments industry - Advanced knowledge of financial statement analysis - Experience in reviewing high risk merchant applications and preparing credit risk assessments within the merchant payment processing industry - Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision - A collaborator, with prior experience working cross functionally - Must have worked in an approver capacity and be able to critically assess an underwriting review for quality - Passionate about helping others grow and develop What we offer: - Medical, Dental, & Vision Coverage - Flexible Paid Time Off - 401(k) + Match - Mental Health Support & Well-Being Program - Paid Maternity & Paternity Leave - Education Assistance - Company-funded Lifestyle Spending Account Salary range: $75,000 - $125,000 Pay within this range varies by work location and on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The Loss Mitigation Underwriting Supervisor will supervise a team of Loss Mitigation Underwriters to achieve maximum performance in assisting customers with available loss mitigation options.
