Summary: Vice President Clinical Services has administrative authority and responsibility for the direction and operation of clinical practice activities and select ancillary departments in support of the organization’s mission, vision, values and strategic business plan. This position is accountable for aligning multiple clinical and ancillary departments under a common mission and strategy while fostering interdepartmental collaboration in the development of high quality, cost effective and integrated strategies and programs across the full continuum of care. In collaboration with physician and executive leadership responsible for establishing standards of patient care, standard operating procedures, financial oversight of the following clinical areas: Nursing, Care Management, Clinical Education, Clinical Operations and other clinical departments as requested. Demonstrates working knowledge of all facets of role, relevant regulations, and organizational and departmental policies and procedures. Performs other duties and projects as assigned. Performs all duties in accordance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies and procedures. Primary Key Performance Areas KPA 1 – Administrative Management Oversees and provides administrative management of the nursing functions and assigned clinical and ancillary departments including but not limited to nursing, care management, and clinical research. Examples of job duties, but not limited to: - Participates in key decisions regarding organizational clinical operations strategies and direction. In collaboration with other leadership team members, develops and executes strategies and plans for the organization to achieve performance and growth expected. - Formulates and implements strategies and operational plans to improve performance in quality, safety, patient experience, physician partnerships, financial sustainability, and the design of the oncology provider of choice. - Participates with the governing body, management, medical staff and clinical leaders in the organizational decision-making structure and processes. - Has accountability, authority and responsibility for nursing services and assigned areas. - Accountable for implementing an effective, ongoing program to measure, assess, and improve the quality of nursing care, treatment, and services delivered to patients. - Sets comprehensive goals for performance and growth. - Utilizes and maximizes effective systems for resource management in nursing, including patient acuity and staffing application. - Accountable for the development of the budget for patient care services. KPA 2 – Leadership Communicates organizational objectives, strategies and plans to leaders and staff. Leads a multidisciplinary work force that provides clinically competent, efficient and compassionate care and services in a professionally challenging work environment. Examples of job duties, but not limited to: - Motivates and leads a high performing, diverse leadership team; attracts recruits and retains leadership in assigned areas; provides coaching and professional development opportunities and serves as a resource. - In collaboration with department leaders develops and implements a succession plan for nursing and ancillary service lines. - Generates and encourages innovation and creative solutions to solve complex clinical operations issues. - Creates an effective working environment where team building is emphasized. - In collaboration with HR, strategically and creatively develops programs with colleges and universities to increase available clinical workforce. - Accountable to represent the professional discipline of nursing and act as their spokesperson. KPA 3 – Regulatory Supports and upholds scope of practice, professional standards, compliance efforts, regulatory readiness and the prevention and mitigation of risk. Examples of job duties, but not limited to: - Accountable for establishing nursing policies and procedures, and implementing nursing standards of patient care, treatment and services. - In collaboration with department leaders, accountable for ensuring the establishment of operational policies, procedures, and best practices and implementing standards of patient care, treatment and services. - Works in collaboration with Physician Leadership, Corporate Compliance, Risk Management, Revenue Cycle, Physician & Patient Relations, and Human Resources to ensure regulatory readiness and the prevention and mitigation of risk in assigned areas. KPA 4 – Fiscal Responsibility Accountable for effective and efficient P&L oversight of assigned areas and stewardship of resources. Examples of job duties, but not limited to: - Monitors P&L performance and KPIs of assigned areas; provides guidance on negative trends. - Works in collaboration with COO and Finance to proactively manage any potential financial loss for scheduled services - Works closely with physicians and clinical leaders, RD staff to ensure FCS drug guidelines are followed. - Works in collaboration Revenue Cycle and with functional leaders to ensures maximum reimbursements are maintained and charges meet insurance guidelines. - Manages and provide guidance in assigned contract negotiations related to clinical operations. Position Qualifications/Requirements Education: - Bachelor of science in nursing. Master’s Degree preferred in nursing, business, health care administration, or related field Certifications/Licenses: - Valid RN Florida license - Valid BLS Certification (NE-BC) required - Valid state Driver’s License for travel to satellite offices and offsite meetings.
