We are looking for a Database Administrator to support the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA). Responsibilities - Provides all activities related to the administration of computerized databases. - Projects long-range requirements for database administration and design in conjunction with other managers in the information systems function. - Designs, creates, and maintains databases in a client/server environment. - Conducts quality control and auditing of databases in a client/server environment to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data. - Advises users on access to various client/server databases. - Designs, implements, and maintains complex databases with respect to JCL, access methods, access time, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection and security, documentation, and statistical methods. - Applies knowledge and experience with database technologies, development methodologies, and front-end /back-end programming languages (e.g., SQL). - Performs database programming and supports systems design. - Includes maintenance of database dictionaries, overall monitoring of standards and procedures, file design and storage, and integration of systems through database design. Qualifications - Five (5) years progressive experience of database query languages such as Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, MS-SQL. - At least three years hands-on experience and expertise in Relational Database Management Systems. - Experience in at least two projects in a large organization responsible for administering, operating, maintaining, and securing a large-scale computer database. - Expert with enterprise Oracle database software and application products, Microsoft SQL Server and IBM DB2. • Administer and maintain enterprise database environments, including SQL and Oracle platforms, supporting operational systems across the OSDSS environment. • Support efforts to standardize and unify data processes across ServiceNow (SNOW), ITMS, and other enterprise systems. • Manage database performance, tuning, and optimization to ensure reliable system performance and availability. • Assist with data integration, synchronization, and validation across multiple disparate systems. • Monitor database environments for performance issues, capacity constraints, and data integrity concerns. • Implement and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures for critical databases. • Support database patching, upgrades, and configuration management activities. • Work with development and engineering teams to support data migrations, schema updates, and application integration requirements. • Assist with data mapping, transformation, and validation activities required to consolidate information across systems. • Troubleshoot and resolve database performance issues, query inefficiencies, and connectivity problems. • Maintain and update database documentation, data dictionaries, and operational procedures. • Ensure compliance with security, access control, and data governance policies.

• Drive the development, design, testing, deployment and iterative improvement of database capabilities, features and APIs • Collaborate with designers, product managers, end-users and other engineers on the database team • Develop and integrate high-quality database products that are secure, simple to use, easy to operate and fully integrated • Manage all technical aspects related to the database product lifecycle, including code, infrastructure, data, security, CICD and documentation • Establish and evangelize database engineering and software development standards • Mentor and assist engineers, driving new ways of improving and simplifying the platform user experience for development teams • Implement software engineering practices using tools that are both cloud-based and on-premises • Responsible for all the database product lifecycle technical aspects, including code, infrastructure, data, security, CICD, and documentation
