In this role, you will diagnose and treat psychological disorders, teach communication skills, assist patients in addressing maladaptive behaviors, and guide them through crises. Responsibilities - Perform intake assessments - Provide mental health therapy for individuals, couples, families, and children - Create individualized treatment plans for each client - Use evidence-based treatment methods to facilitate group and individual treatments - Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of patient information and treatment plan - Adhere to all facility and licensing standards Qualifications - Master’s or doctoral degree in counseling, social work, clinical psychology or similar field - Current licensure in your field of practice (e.g. LGPC, LCPC, LCADC,LCPAT, LCSW-C, LCMFT, Psy.D., PhD) - Ability to work with children and teens preferred - Previous experience as a mental health therapist preferred - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - Highly organized **Please note: Salary/compensation will be commensurate with licensure and experience.** Flexible work from home options available. Compensation: $60.00 - $70.00 per hour About Us Phyllis Guthua, Psy.D. As a Clinical Psychologist, Dr. Guthua is dedicated to working with children, adolescents and adults who are experiencing difficulties at home, school, or work. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Maryland and received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Widener University, where she gained valuable experience working with children, adolescents and adults in hospitals, schools, and community centers. She completed two part-time predoctoral internships at Main Street Community Mental Health Center in Reisterstown, MD, and at the Delaware Department of Services for Children, Youth and Families in New Castle, DE; and completed her post-doctoral fellowship at Sheppard Pratt. After completion of her postdoctoral fellowship, Dr. Guthua has worked as a psychologist at nonpublic schools in Maryland, where she has provided therapy and conducted assessments for children and adolescents with behavioral, emotional and developmental needs. Through her work in hospital and school settings, she has helped children, teens, and adults work through challenges. Dr. Guthua enjoys taking part in individuals’ stories as they have overcome obstacles and become better equipped with tools that could help them better enjoy life. Dr. Guthua has experience working with children who have ADHD, Autism, and various mood disorders (e.g. anxiety, depression, etc.). As a clinician, Dr. Guthua has extensive experience conducting comprehensive (neuro)psychological and psychoeducational assessments on children, adolescents and adults who are experiencing difficulties associated with learning, behavior, emotions, and developmental delays. In therapy, Dr. Guthua uses a variety of approaches based on each individual’s needs, but always functions from a strengths-based perspective. The techniques she uses include Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-based CBT, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She also offers parent support sessions to families of young children. Dr. Guthua provides a safe, nurturing, and judgment-free environment for all individuals and consistently aims to establish a collaborative, empathic, and compassionate therapeutic relationship with them. She continues to endeavor to enhance her clinical knowledge and skills so that she could provide the best quality service to people seeking help.
