Junior Cloud DevOps Engineer

KBR, Inc.

• Support the rapid migration (lift and shift) of physical and on-premises infrastructure to AWS cloud environments. • Assist in the development and maintenance of tools for provisioning, monitoring, auditing, and de-provisioning AWS cloud infrastructure using automation tools. • Work closely with solution architects and engineers to implement secure, scalable, and cost-effective AWS cloud solutions. • Maintain and optimize CI/CD pipelines using industry-standard tools like GitLab Runners or similar. • Apply Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or AWS CDK. • Support the configuration and automation of AWS environments using tools like Ansible. • Troubleshoot and provide support for cloud-based applications in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment. • Contribute to documentation and process improvements to enhance system reliability and efficiency. • Identify and implement AWS cloud cost optimization strategies, incorporating FinOps principles where applicable. • Participate in ongoing modernization efforts, refactoring and enhancing cloud workloads to leverage AWS-native services and best practices. • Collaborate within Agile teams, participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives, and deliver incremental value through iterative development.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field.
  • Associate-level certification in AWS (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Associate, AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate, AWS Certified Developer – Associate).
  • Terraform Associate certification required.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, or related fields, with a focus on AWS technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and automation.
  • Strong understanding of cloud security, networking, and best practices for AWS.
  • Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, AWS CDK, or AWS CloudFormation.
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
  • Scripting proficiency in Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar for automation.
  • Demonstrated FinOps ability to reduce cloud spend through cost optimization strategies and practical implementation.
  • Experience implementing cost-effective, FinOps-aligned AWS cloud solutions.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, navigate ambiguity, and deliver high-quality results under pressure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present recommendations to technical teams.
  • Strong technical documentation skills for designing and implementing AWS cloud infrastructure.
