Role Description As a part of the Engineering team, the Sr. Electrical Engineer-Data Center will provide subject matter expertise on Electrical Engineering design, final engineering, and construction permitting of data center projects as well as utility-scale solar and energy storage projects. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure that all electrical designs are optimized for efficiency, safety, and compliance with industry standards. - Create and manage Electrical Engineering design standards to set requirements for quality, presentation standards, and cost-effectiveness. - Perform project design reviews at specific milestones throughout the final design process and coordinating other internal reviews and approvals by key stakeholders, as needed. - Design and deliver electrical systems for hyperscale data centers, including medium- and low-voltage power distribution, backup power, and emergency systems. - Prepare and maintain electrical schematics, bills of materials, and construction/installation drawings. - Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes and standards, including the National Electrical Code (NEC) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) requirements. - Partner with engineers and key stakeholders to define technical specifications, design criteria, and project budgets. - Provide electrical design oversight throughout the full data center lifecycle, from early concept through commissioning, ensuring systems meet performance, reliability, and energy-efficiency goals. - Lead and manage large-scale, multi-site projects across multiple regions, delivering electrical engineering solutions on schedule. - Work closely with mechanical, architectural, structural, network, controls, and operations teams to seamlessly integrate electrical systems with overall data center infrastructure. - Track emerging technologies and industry trends in data center electrical engineering, with an emphasis on energy efficiency, resilience, and future scalability. - Support field engineering and commissioning teams to test, validate, and verify proper installation, operation, and performance of electrical systems and equipment. - Develop and edit electrical specifications, and support the selection of equipment, systems, and devices. - Establish and continuously improve electrical design standards and guidelines to ensure consistency, reliability, and efficiency across all data center projects. - Review Low Voltage (LV), medium voltage collection systems (MVac/MVdc), interconnection, and also substation system designs (HVac/HVdc) for data center, solar, and energy storage projects. - Optimize project designs by drawing upon knowledge of LV, MV collection, transformers, switching, relaying, backup power, and substation design including best practices, specifications, cost, efficiency, code compliance, performance, and reliability. - Work with data center clients to understand their project specific requirements around reliability, growth increments, capex and opex optimizations, sustainability, construction schedules, and future flexibility. - Attend design meetings with other team members (internal and external) and lead electrical discussion in the meetings. - Manage schematic, design development, and contract document work sessions in conjunction with the Project Manager, Project Architect, and other disciplines. - Design support during construction including field observations, submittal & drawing review, and review and evaluate RFI, RFP, and RFQ submittals, supporting as a project engineer. - Provide technical review and guidance on equipment selection and approved vendor list. - Support data center O&M team with technical knowledge and troubleshooting. - Design and manage the data center white space, including rack layout, hot/cold containment, network infrastructure, branch circuit distribution, power requirements, cable pathways, and projected build phases. - Participate in the development of data center facilities requirements documentation. - Research and evaluate new designs, materials, and construction methods for data center electrical and mechanical equipment and related components. - Participate in project coordination meetings and clearly communicate necessary or recommended updates to project scheduling. Qualifications - Minimum of 5 years of professional experience working in Electrical Engineering for data centers or Utility-scale solar and storage power plants. - BSEE specializing in Power Systems from ABET-accredited University, MS a plus, PE license a plus. - Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including but not limited to data centers and power generation. - Experience with data center design and construction, including design criteria and industry standards. - Demonstrated strong engineering, design, and communication skills, and an ability to work in a dynamic team environment to think outside the box and solve traditional problems in new ways. - Strong computer skills using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, and Revit. - In-depth knowledge of LV, MV collection, transmission line, Converters, and HVAC/HVDC substation design including substation Protection & Control, SCADA, and Telecommunications. - Experienced in the design data center’s electrical building, On-Site Renewable Energy Generation, Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), Renewable Energy Credits (RECs), Microgrids, and Energy Storage. - Skilled in designing backup power solutions with varying redundancy levels based on data center load criticality. - Ability to complete work independently and handle most unique situations autonomously. - Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and work effectively in a team environment. - Strong knowledge of data center/critical environment electrical and mechanical infrastructure. - Experience in designing, integrating, and managing SCADA systems, as well as strong knowledge of network infrastructure within data centers to ensure efficient and secure operations. - Experience in vendor management. - Expertise in cabling infrastructure best practices and methodologies. - Understanding of industrial/commercial electrical one-lines. - Experience with BMS/EPMS control systems and data collection/trending. - Experience in developing MOPs/SOPs/EOPs for carrying out systems operations. - Knowledge of data center PUE and its derivation as well as data center's redundancy requirements at the network and power levels. - Experience with data center mechanical design is a plus. - Proficient in reading and comprehending blueprints and building documentation. - Proven problem-solving skills. Job Requirements

As a Sr. Substation Engineer, you will lead or support utility and power substation projects and clients.
