Senior Cloud Engineer

• Architect and implement AWS cloud infrastructure solutions using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) • Serve as a technical escalation point for complex infrastructure, networking, security, and deployment issues • Guide cloud standards, best practices, and governance aligned with organizational and compliance requirements • Design, implement, and continuously improve disaster recovery architectures and testing processes • Collaborate with application, security, and compliance teams to design secure-by-default cloud architectures • Support and drive improvements to CI/CD pipelines, deployment strategies, and DevOps workflows • Mentor and provide technical guidance to team members through code reviews, design discussions, and knowledge sharing • Contribute to roadmap planning, technical decision-making, and evaluation of new tools and services • Create and maintain advanced technical documentation, architecture diagrams, runbooks, and operational procedures • Participate in and help lead the 24/7 on-call rotation, including incident response, root cause analysis, and post-incident reviews • Identify opportunities to improve reliability, automation, monitoring, and operational efficiency across cloud environments
Job Requirements
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in cloud engineering
- Experience with monitoring, logging, and observability platforms at scale
- Strong expertise with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform in a version-controlled, team-based environment
- Deep understanding of cloud networking concepts, including VPC design, routing, firewalls, VPNs, load balancing, and DNS
- Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker
- Strong experience with security best practices, including IAM, least-privilege access, encryption, and compliance controls
- Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell)
- Experience designing and supporting CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices
- Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Willingness to work flexible hours and participate in an on-call rotation

• Collaborating with account teams to understand customer cloud environments through review and evaluation of cloud technologies, consumption, implementations, and processes • Designing and proposing cloud solutions that meet customers' business objectives • Collaborating with sales teams to drive the solution, including making recommendations and aligning the next steps for a sale • Strengthening technical relationships with OEMs, strategic and emerging partners, and key cloud partners • Educating sales teams on cloud solution selling and key technologies through various forms of training • Conducting product training and positioning for the sales team and customers • Implementing and thoroughly documenting cloud solutions and related technologies, including network design, security architecture, governance best practices, and connectivity • Serving as the technical lead and subject matter expert on projects and workshops • Developing technical roadmaps for future cloud implementations on public cloud platforms • Ensuring security is integrated into all cloud solutions
• Responsible for documenting user stories based on product owner requirements and backlog • Ingest and visualize data sets from internal and external providers for integration or ingestion into cloud deployed solutions. • Elicit data requirements from the product owner and other stakeholders. • Create/update SDLC documentation based on stakeholder requirements. SDLC documentation includes but is not limited to: Requirements Documentation, Use Case Documentation, Data Flow Documentation, Business Process Flows, Visio system diagrams (of systems and components), Testing Plan, Test Cases, Security Impact Analysis Worksheet, Change Control Request Form. • Support the Product Owner by facilitating user acceptance testing with stakeholders. • Support the scrum team with any additional web/cloud development tasks as necessary. • Responsible for developing cloud-based applications using and integrating with AWS native tooling: Python (Expert level proficiency needed), Javascript / Javascript-based frameworks (Expert level proficiency needed), API Development (Expert level proficiency needed), AWS Lambda, AWS API Gateway, AWS DynamoDB, AWS Glue, AWS SageMaker (Jupyter Notebooks), AWS Cognito, AWS Relational Database Service (RDS), AWS Simple Storage Service (S3), AWS CodePipeline, AWS Fargate (Running WordPress CMS and/or containerized workloads), AWS DataZone, GitHub Enterprise. • Expected to whenever possible leverage Infrastructure as Code (IaC), open source and/or approved NOAA tools and resources. • Responsible for developing APIs and other application integrations. • Responsible for ensuring participation in an agile software development team. • Due to the agile and changing nature of workload, may be required to perform other software development and analysis activities in support of the development team.
• Developing complex cloud-native serverless applications • Writing and maintaining serverless functions in Typescript and Python • Utilising Serverless technology including API management, Serverless functions, Event driven architectures, Serverless databases and document stores • Implementing a range of integration patterns, from modern SaaS APIs using GraphQL to traditional FTP based integrations. • Applying DevOps principles to empower teams to manage infrastructure directly using Git • Utilising Terraform for provisioning and managing cloud resources. • Leveraging Design Patterns and reference architectures to design scalable and efficient cloud infrastructure. • Having a strong, test driven, quality first mindset to your work • Communicate effectively with excellent written and verbal skills. • Familiarity with Diagrams-as-Code for documenting infrastructure architecture. • Designing solutions observing cross-cutting concerns such as observability and system security • Taking ownership of deployments in a true devops model
