Role Description Welty Energy is looking to add a Senior Substation Estimator to our growing Scoping and Estimating team! As a Senior Estimator, you will create utility project estimates, act as an extension of our client’s team, and provide best-in-class service. As the Senior, you will be involved with consulting on select projects as well as providing assistance to the Welty Project Management Team and mentoring junior Estimators. This position can be remote in the mainland United States, operating in ET hours. As a Senior Substation Estimator, you may: - Create preliminary project schedules considering lead times, crews, construction durations, siting, etc. - Write Scope of Work for conceptual/pre-funding approval projects. - Work with internal substation layout teams for preliminary substation designs. - Create and review substation estimates. - Work on projects involving 25kV-765kV Utility Power Equipment for Substations. - Review/Aide supplemental support estimates such as, but not limited to, forestry, SCADA/IT network, fiber, testing and commissioning, and related. - Coordinate with other scoping and estimating team members, planning and protection engineering, sponsors, regional contacts, and personnel from the supplemental support estimate staff. - Attend regional meetings with planning, protection, and other stakeholders to review the status of all open estimates. - Review/approve/reject estimate requests in OPPM. - Build accurate project schedule timelines for substation and support estimates. Qualifications - High school or GED required. - Bachelor’s degree in engineering or similar technical degree is advantageous. - 8+ years of either substation design or estimating experience within the electric utility industry is required. - Microsoft Office Suite proficiency, specifically within Excel. Requirements - Ability to effectively manage a high-volume workload while communicating efficiently and effectively with internal and external clients. - Solid understanding of engineering design/drawing packages.
