• Responsible for the execution of all activities of the structural departments within the division • Schedule, organize, direct and review all structural resources and activities • Provide enhanced customer support as a technical liaison • Identify resource and staffing needs, lead and/or participate in recruiting and interviews, onboard new team members • Direct, develop, supervise and provide technical guidance to the structural departments • Establish and execute operational plans for the department • Identify training and career development opportunities and create plans for the departments and specific individuals • Develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed in the department • Research, evaluate, and stay current on emerging and existing engineering design software, digital execution tools, workflows, and industry best practices
Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Structural Engineering
- 15 years of experience, preferably in a consulting environment
- Successful experience in leadership roles managing engineering and design teams
- Experience in developing resources and implementing work share
- Professional Engineer license
- Working knowledge of analytical and design software such as RISA, STAAD, Revit, Advance Steel and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC)
- Thorough understanding and aptitude in the use of current computer software including general MS Office products, design & business enterprise software and document control systems
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills
- Must excel in working in a team environment

The Civil Engineer – Renewable Energy will be based in Arlington, Virginia or remote within the Mid-Atlantic region (Eastern Time). This role will support utility-scale solar projects across early-stage development, M&A technical due diligence, and construction support. The position will focus on land development, site feasibility, grading and drainage design, and permitting coordination, while also supporting geotechnical and structural review as part of acquisition evaluations and project execution. Principal Duties & Responsibilities - Coordinate early-stage civil design for utility-scale solar projects. - Oversee grading, drainage, erosion control, and stormwater management planning. - Liaise with third-party consultants and local counties for permitting, including road access, earthwork, and land disturbance approvals. - Support M&A technical due diligence by reviewing land quality, site constraints, development risks, and constructability considerations. - Conduct site walks and coordinate feasibility assessments for acquisition targets. - Review seller technical packages including site plans, grading plans, drainage studies, and civil reports. - Review geotechnical reports from third-party consultants to identify potential site and foundation risks. - Perform preliminary foundation and corrosion analysis assessments as required. - Prepare scopes of work and support selection of civil and geotechnical consultants. - Manage and coordinate third-party civil engineering consultants throughout development and construction phases. - Collaborate cross-functionally to support civil engineering aspects from pre-design through construction. - Ensure compliance with applicable civil engineering codes, standards, and AHJ requirements. - Support evaluation of financial impacts related to civil and development risks.
