Role Description As a Licensing Specialist at a Microsoft Learning Partner, you will serve as the primary subject matter expert for Microsoft licensing programs, guiding customers through the complexities of volume licensing, subscription-based agreements, and cloud service entitlements. This customer-facing role combines deep product knowledge with consultative sales skills to ensure clients select, manage, and optimize their Microsoft software and cloud investments. You will collaborate closely with account managers, technical trainers, and Microsoft partner resources to deliver accurate licensing guidance and drive customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities - Customer Advisory & Sales Support - Serve as the go-to licensing advisor for customers ranging from small businesses to enterprise accounts, translating complex agreement structures into clear, actionable recommendations. - Conduct licensing assessments and needs analyses to identify the most cost-effective and compliant Microsoft solutions for each customer. - Develop and present licensing proposals, quotes, and renewal options aligned with customer budgets and technology roadmaps. - Partner with account managers to support upsell, cross-sell, and renewal opportunities for Microsoft 365, Azure, Dynamics 365, and other product families. - Respond promptly to customer licensing inquiries via phone, email, and in-person meetings, ensuring a high standard of service and accuracy. - Licensing Program Expertise - Maintain current, in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Volume Licensing programs including Enterprise Agreement (EA), Microsoft Customer Agreement (MCA), Cloud Solution Provider (CSP), and Open Value. - Advise customers on license position, compliance status, true-up obligations, and Software Assurance benefits. - Interpret Microsoft Product Terms, use rights, and licensing rules to resolve customer questions and disputes. - Track Microsoft licensing program updates, price changes, and promotional offers, proactively communicating relevant changes to customers and internal teams. - Support customers through Microsoft License Reviews (MLR) and Software Asset Management (SAM) engagements. - Internal Collaboration & Operations - Collaborate with the learning and training teams to align licensing guidance with Microsoft technology courses and certifications offered through the Learning Partner program. - Maintain accurate records of customer licensing agreements, quotes, and communications within the CRM system. - Support order processing, procurement coordination, and post-sale license activation activities. - Act as an internal resource and trainer for colleagues seeking guidance on licensing concepts and program changes. - Assist in developing customer-facing licensing guides, FAQs, and reference materials.
