Position Location: Chandler, AZ Position: Data Engineer Job Duties: - Design and implement ETL processes using appropriate cloud services for seamless data extraction, transformation, and loading. - Migrate customer data pipelines from various cloud providers to Google Cloud Platform (GCP), ensuring secure and efficient data migration to google cloud. - Perform data schema translation and transformation to guarantee compatibility with GCP storage and data warehouses such as BigQuery. - Establish data validation procedures to ensure the completeness and accuracy of migrated data. - Optimize data pipelines for performance and cost-effectiveness on GCP, leveraging tools like BigQuery for efficient data management. - Collaborate with customer data teams to facilitate a smooth transition to GCP, providing training and knowledge transfer on GCP data practices. - Analyze customer's existing cloud data landscape to assess migration complexity and plan the most effective approach. - Position is based out of Chandler, Arizona HQ but telecommuting is permitted on a case-by-case basis. Job Requirements: Education Requirements: - Bachelors degree in Information Systems and Security, Computer Science, or closely related. Employer will accept an advanced degree if in the same field. Experience Requirements: - 36 months of experience in job offered, Software Developer, or closely related. Special skills requirements: - Experience in building production-grade data solutions (relational and NoSQL) - Experience with Data Integration Tools: building data pipelines using modern data integration tools such as Fivetran, Striim, Data Fusion, etc. - Experience configuring and integrating with multiple Data Sources within and outside of Google. - Large Enterprise Migration: migrating entire cloud or on-prem assets to Google Cloud including Data Lakes, Data Warehouses, Databases, Business Intelligence, Jobs, etc. - Provide consultations for optimizing cost defining methodology, and coming up with a future state architecture. - Experience writing software in at least two or more languages such as Python, Java, Scala, or Go - Experience with systems monitoring/alerting, capacity planning, and performance tuning. Proof of citizenship status will be required at time of hire.” About the Role Alight is looking for an ETL/Informatica Application Support Engineer with strong analytical skills, excellent troubleshooting abilities, and a proactive approach. The ideal candidate will drive stability and continuous improvement in production environments, working independently in a fast-paced setting while delivering high-quality support within the Applications Support team. The IT Support Engineer is part of a team responsible for 24X7 customer support for Alight’s proprietary Leave of Absence Management software platforms, including troubleshooting and resolving incoming issues upon first contact within the team whenever possible; documenting tickets with triage information before escalating to next tier; providing ongoing support until issues are resolved. Responsibilities - Monitor, support, and troubleshoot ETL and data integration workflows across production, QA, and development environments to ensure smooth daily operations. - Analyse and resolve incidents, job failures, and performance issues related to Informatica workflows, mappings, and SQL jobs. - Own and maintain ETL components including Informatica mappings, metadata, scripts, schedules, and operational procedures. Identify opportunities to optimize performance, scalability, and reliability of existing jobs/processes. - Ensure stability of data ingestion pipelines spanning batch, nearrealtime, and realtime patterns. Finetune ETL solutions by developing a deep technical understanding of data flows and upstream/downstream dependencies. - Collaborate with DBAs and Data Architects to implement appropriate data partitioning, indexing, and optimization strategies to enhance job performance. - Develop or modify SQL scripts, stored procedures, database triggers, and queries as part of incident resolution, change requests, or performance tuning. Work closely with cross functional and offshore teams, ensuring timely resolution of issues, clear communication, and adherence to support SLAs and operational guidelines. - Manage multiple concurrent support tickets, change requests, and enhancement tasks, balancing priorities based on business impact and urgency. - Ensure compliance with published support, development, coding, and testing standards, as well as change management practices. Requirements - 3-5 years of experience in ETL application support, Informatica PowerCenter/Cloud, and SQL Server in production environments. - Practical experience with SQL Server, including schema understanding, stored procedure development, query tuning, and optimization. - Handson experience with job scheduling tools such as ControlM or AutoSys for monitoring and support automation. - Excellent communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a distributed global team. - Strong analytical thinkers with the ability to troubleshoot complex data and integration issues effectively. - Flexible, adaptable, and pragmatic, with the ability to remain focused on objectives while handling shifting priorities.
