The Role We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented loan Underwriter to join our lending team focused on manufactured housing. As an Underwriter, you will play a critical role in evaluating loan applications and assessing the creditworthiness of borrowers seeking financing for manufactured homes. Your expertise in analyzing financial documents, assessing risk, and ensuring compliance with lending regulations will be essential in making informed lending decisions. Responsibilities: - Review loan applications and supporting documentation for manufactured housing loans, including income verification, credit reports, and property valuations. - Assess the creditworthiness of borrowers by analyzing financial statements, tax returns, employment history, and other relevant information. - Evaluate loan-to-value ratios, debt-to-income ratios, and other key financial indicators to determine loan feasibility. - Analyze manufactured housing market trends and property valuations to determine appropriate loan amounts and loan terms. - Ensure compliance with lending regulations, internal policies, and underwriting guidelines. - Collaborate with loan officers, Fulfillment support staff, processors, and other team members to gather necessary information and address any application deficiencies or documentation gaps. - Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify potential red flags or fraudulent activities. - Prepare loan underwriting summaries, including recommended loan structures, risk mitigation strategies, and rationales for decision-making. - Communicate lending decisions and provide clear explanations to loan officers, Fulfillment support staff, processors, and other stakeholders. - Stay updated on industry best practices, regulatory changes, and market trends related to manufactured housing financing. Qualifications: - Previous experience as a loan underwriter or in a similar role, preferably with expertise in manufactured housing loans is preferred - Strong knowledge of underwriting guidelines, lending regulations, and compliance requirements specific to manufactured housing loans. - Proficient in analyzing financial statements, credit reports, tax returns, and other relevant financial documents. - Familiarity with loan origination software, mortgage underwriting systems, and document management platforms. - Adaptable to multiple/new technology systems and process change - Learner mindset with ability to receive and implement feedback - Excellent attention to detail and ability to review and interpret complex loan documents accurately. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess creditworthiness and evaluate risk. - Effective communication skills to convey lending decisions and collaborate with loan officers, processors, and other stakeholders. - Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and prioritize workload to meet deadlines. - High ethical standards and commitment to maintaining confidentiality and data privacy. In this role, you will underwrite and bind transactions, working closely with the Structured Credit VP. Responsible for reviewing and analyzing Non‑Payment Insurance (NPI) transactions to help build and maintain a profitable book of business, supporting senior underwriters in both the US and UK as needed. This role includes risk selection and pricing for new business, renewals, and endorsements, as well as reviewing quotes prior to issuance. The position also requires close collaboration with colleagues to achieve departmental goals, along with managing broker and client relationships through responsive customer service and ongoing marketing activities. Responsibilities • Evaluate and underwrite risks within assigned authority, ensuring alignment with company guidelines and risk appetite • Analyze submissions, financials, and loss histories to assess risk quality and pricing adequacy • Draft and review policy forms, endorsements, and coverage terms tailored to client needs • Maintain accurate and complete underwriting documentation in accordance with internal and external standards • Monitor portfolio performance, including premium trends, loss ratios, and underwriting results • Collaborate with brokers through meetings and account reviews to strengthen relationships and identify growth opportunities • Partner with underwriters and broader team to support retention and new business initiatives • Contribute to special projects and team initiatives as assigned • Basic understanding of insurance principles, policy forms, and regulatory frameworks a plus • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn internal systems • Commitment to ongoing professional development and insurance education.
