Job Description
Forward Deployed Engineer
Invoca
• Deploy Scalable AI Solutions: You will be responsible for building. configuring and deploying customer specific Agentic AI, based on standardized templates, while also ensuring rapid time to value. • Build and Deploy Tool Servers: Design, build, and deploy Model-Tool Communication Protocol (MCP) servers that expose Invoca’s API endpoints as usable "tools" for AI models. You will ensure these servers provide clear, contextually rich descriptions so Large Language Models (LLMs) can reliably integrate with our systems. • Enable Seamless AI Integration: Manage the transport layer between LLMs and our internal data sources using the MCP standard, ensuring the AI has the necessary context to be accurate and effective. • Uphold Security & Governance: Implement strict guardrails and "Human-in-the-Loop" checkpoints. Your work will ensure AI agents never perform destructive actions (like deleting records or spending budget) without appropriate authorization and review. • Optimize AI-Driven Workflows: Monitor and enhance the performance of AI tool-use. You will tune prompt templates and server responses to reduce "hallucinations" and minimize latency in real-time integrations. • Drive Cross-Functional Success: Partner closely with Product and Engineering teams to ensure our core platform is continuously "AI-ready" and collaborate with Customer Success to identify and build the highest-impact AI integrations for our clients.

- Deployment and Integration Fluency: The expertise to transform architectural templates into live, high-performance deployments, alongside the technical intuition to manage and optimize the diverse inbound and outbound integrations that power the Invoca platform
- Agentic AI Familiarity: Direct experience building applications on top of Agentic frameworks. LLMs, RAG in production environment.
- Complex Problem-Solving: The ability to take a vague business problem ("Help us automate follow-ups") and architect a clear, technical, AI-driven solution.
- Proficiency in JavaScript: Strong scripting skills to build and maintain the connections that allow AI models to interact with other software tools in a TDD environment.
- Modern API Expertise: Deep experience with RESTful APIs, Webhooks, and authentication protocols (e.g., OAuth2).
- Understanding of Tool Use: Familiarity with how Agents and Large Language Models handle "Tool Use" or "Function Calling," including the difference between direct and exemplar-based prompting for tool selection.
- Data Protocols: Strong understanding of structured data and the standard protocols used to transfer information between web applications.
- Communication Skills: An empathetic tone and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business value. You are proactive with frequent status updates.
