SENIOR NETWORK SECURITY ENGINEER POSITION LOCATION Richmond, VA Lynchburg, VA Remote YOUR ROLE The Senior Network Security Engineer develops and deploys the overall network security posture for the edge, backbone, datacenter, and cloud. This individual will be responsible for the implementation and administration of network security hardware and software through providing direction to a team of network engineers including managed service engineers. In addition, this individual will enforce Genworth network security policies and ensure that all compliance activities are executed in a timely manner. This individual will improve documentation and reporting capabilities and will collaborate with other teams, leads and vendors to own Genworth’s network security initiatives and strategy both on premise and in the cloud. What you will be doing - Be a subject matter expert for firewalls, intrusion prevention, proxy, VPN, etc. - Provide technical direction and insight for problem management, projects, and operations. - Provide operational support for a multi-vendor, multi-region production network. - Improve documentation and reporting capabilities in support of operations and compliance demands. - Assist with internal and external audits. - Provide direction to network engineering team to accomplish projects and priorities. - Provide oversight on security policy implementation. - Identify, test, and integrate new and replacement network security products and capabilities. - Understand compliance requirements and perform periodic audits of the network security tools to ensure that policies are appropriately enforced. - Assist in migration to a Secure Service Edge platform, such as Palo Alto Prisma Access. What you bring - Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Information Technology or equivalent experience. - 5+ years of experience in network security engineering or architecture. - Robust knowledge of security technologies including firewalls, WIPS, VPN, proxy, etc. - Strong understanding of network protocols such as TCP/IP, BGP, IPsec, etc. - Experience with security management and orchestration tools such as Tufin. - Implementation experience with SSE/SASE, CASB, and NAC solutions. - Ability to quickly understand and take ownership of network security toolsets. - Experience in cloud networking in AWS, Azure, GCP, etc. Employee Benefits & Well-Being Genworth employees make a difference in people’s lives every day. Role Description RGS is seeking a highly motivated and security-focused Summer DevSecOps Engineering Intern to join our Professional Services organization. This is a hands-on, technical internship focused on DevSecOps methodologies, internal tooling development, and contributing to the success of customer engagements involving our flagship cloud-native products—Rancher, RKE2, and Harvester. As a DevSecOps Engineering Intern in Professional Services, you will have a dual mission: - Support the efficiency of the consulting team by developing internal assets. - Gain real-world experience by shadowing consulting engineers and architects on customer engagements. Key Responsibilities: - Work within the RGS lab and training environment and provide critical feedback on how to improve the onboarding/training experience both from a user experience and technical point of view. - Shadow and collaborate with consulting engineers and architects on customer engagements, focusing on DevSecOps, cloud-native security, and infrastructure-as-code deployments. - Design and develop internal automation scripts, tooling, and utilities to streamline and enhance Professional Services delivery and operations. - Contribute to the creation of standardized collateral, including documentation, best practice guides, and reusable templates for secure cloud-native deployments. - Research and develop a proof-of-concept initiative focused on integrating Generative AI (LLMs) into the DevSecOps engineering workflow, including use cases for AI assisted code generation, reports and documentation creation. - Research and evaluate new security tools and practices within the DevSecOps pipeline for potential adoption by the consulting team. - Reproduce and validate configuration or deployment issues in lab environments related to Rancher, RKE2, and Harvester. - Participate in team meetings, knowledge-sharing sessions, and peer reviews of internal documentation and tooling. Qualifications - Currently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field. - Academic focus, concentration, or significant coursework in Cybersecurity, Information Security, or a related DevSecOps discipline. - Demonstrated understanding of cloud native concepts: containers, Kubernetes, microservices architectures, and basic virtualization. - Strong scripting or programming experience (Python, Go, or Bash) with an emphasis on automation and security-related tasks. - Comfortable working in Linux environments and using CLI tools daily. - Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document complex technical concepts clearly.
