Role Description This role involves contributing to the design, analysis, and construction of nuclear facilities as a Structural Engineer - Nuclear. - Oversee proposal development and guide other engineers in the development of deliverables for nuclear projects within the Civil/Structural discipline - Report to an assigned Project Engineer and Project Manager on multi-discipline proposals and projects and act as a Project Engineer for Civil/Structural projects when required - Act as a technical point of contact for the customer, leading discipline specific engineering teams - Provide area expertise in development of industry standard design and calculations associated with design and construction of commercial nuclear modifications - Work with other engineers and designers to prepare design change packages for modifications at operating nuclear plants and other associated nuclear facilities - Prepare engineering change packages (EC's) - Prepare scoping documents and proposals to determine extent of modifications required - Prepare cost estimates for engineering/design activities for Civil/Structural - Conduct field walkdowns to determine existing configuration of plant structures, systems, and components - Perform a broad range of Civil/Structural design activities to support development of design change documentation Qualifications - Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university (required) – structural engineering emphasis (highly preferred) - Structural Engineer (SE) License (required) - Minimum of 8 years' experience in design and 4 years' experience in design of modifications in nuclear (DOE or commercial) plants - Must have design engineering experience associated with commercial nuclear sites (required) - Experience with Industry Standard Design Procedure IP-ENG-001 (required) - Strong knowledge of Civil/Structural design codes (AISC, ASTM, ACI) - Proficient computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite) - Ability to interpret codes, regulations, and standard practices - Adaptability with proficiency in identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving issues within a nuclear power plant environment - Effective oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing) - Excellent communication skills and ability to interface with customers and internal team members under a matrixed organization - Ability to obtain unescorted access at an operating or construction nuclear plant (required) - Strong background in commercial nuclear design and developing engineering competencies - Team player who works well as a member of a group - Detail-oriented and dedicated to task completion - Ability to travel to plant sites approximately 6-8 days/month Requirements - Master of Science or other advanced degree in engineering (bonus) - Experience working with multiple operating nuclear clients and vendors (bonus) - On-site and past unescorted access at nuclear facilities (bonus) - Additional software skills including Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Vault, Risa, ANSYS (bonus) - Professional Engineering (PE) license (bonus) Benefits - Competitive package including benefits, vacation, and holidays
