Job Description

Principal Electrical Engineer

Core Scientific

• Lead and manage the design engineering team in the conceptualization, design, and implementation of data center projects, ensuring all systems meet performance, reliability, and safety standards. • Provide technical leadership in the design of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, ensuring integration with architectural and structural elements. • Drive innovation in data center design, incorporating the latest technologies and best practices to enhance efficiency and sustainability. • Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and resources, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. • Implement and oversee quality control processes to ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations. • Collaborate with clients, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met and expectations are managed. • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project success. • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including design specifications, as-built drawings, and operation manuals. • Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the team.

Job Requirements

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field is required.
  • 10+ years of experience in engineering, with at least 5 years in a senior or principal role managing data center projects.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred. LEED accreditation and other relevant certifications are a plus.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and other engineering design software. Strong understanding of HVAC, electrical power distribution, and plumbing systems.
  • Proven experience in managing large-scale projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.

Qualifications - We do not sponsor employees for work authorization in the U.S. for this position. - BS or MS in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Nuclear Engineering from an ABET accredited program. - 12 or more years of experience in the design engineering of instrumentation and controls systems in a project team environment for commercial, industrial applications, with a focus on integrated and detailed system design modifications. - Professional Engineering license is preferred. - Ability to clearly communicate both in speech and written formats. - Technically knowledgeable of available equipment and proven pre-engineered systems to execute systems design. - Experience with serving as the firm's client liaison in a support or lead engineering role. - Experience in reviewing design documentation.
