You’ll be the go?to expert for database architecture, optimization, upgrades, and issue resolution—partnering closely with Epic application teams, reporting/BI developers, and infrastructure/security stakeholders to deliver high?quality, compliant analytics at scale. What You’ll Do Platform Administration & Reliability - Administer and support Epic Clarity (operational reporting database), Cogito (analytics framework including SlicerDicer), and Caboodle (EDW) environments—primarily on Microsoft SQL Server. - Configure and maintain HA/DR (e.g., SQL Server Always On AGs, failover clustering, log shipping) and routinely test backup/restore and disaster recovery scenarios. - Monitor capacity, jobs, ETL schedules, and platform health; triage and resolve performance incidents and failed jobs. - Support Epic-delivered Clarity ETL processes and Caboodle load frameworks; coordinate refresh windows and data latency expectations. - Develop, maintain, and harden SSIS/SQL Agent packages, stored procedures, and job orchestration supporting reporting and analytics. Performance & Optimization - Analyze query plans, tune SQL, add/adjust indexing strategies, and optimize ETL loads for Clarity & Caboodle. - Proactively identify hotspots (I/O, CPU, memory), refine resource allocation, and implement performance baselines and SLOs. Security, Compliance & Auditing - Implement least-privilege access models, manage logins/roles, and enforce encryption (at rest and in transit). - Maintain HIPAA compliance; support auditing, PHI/PII controls, and respond to security assessments. - Coordinate with InfoSec on vulnerability remediation, patching cadence, and configuration hardening. Upgrades & Lifecycle Management - Plan and execute Epic version upgrades and related database schema changes; maintain environment parity across dev/test/prod. - Apply OS/SQL Server patches, cumulative updates, and firmware/driver updates with minimal downtime. - Document configurations, runbooks, and operational SOPs; contribute to change management and CAB processes. Role Description The Clinical Data Systems Associate is an early‑career, hybrid clinical–technical role designed for individuals who can bridge clinical data workflows with technology, systems thinking, and hands‑on software validation.
