Supervisor, Engineering – Underground Electric Distribution Design
Qualus
• Lead the Underground electric distribution team, overseeing project execution with a focus on technical excellence as new clients are added and the department grows • Oversee technical performance of team while ensuring QA/QC execution and tracking • Supports development of design & engineering best practice methods and adherence tracking, specific to clients served • Understand and implement client and industry standards • Support training program development and maintenance • Maintain knowledge of developments in industry codes and regulations • Maintain existing relationships and seek new opportunities in existing contracts • Build new relationships within existing clients, create proposals and a staffing plan as new opportunities arise and projects are awarded. • Support organizational growth objectives • Support management of project scopes, budgets, and schedules • Support proposal writing and/or coordination • Ensure timesheet approvals • Support invoicing review and approval, as well as time and material backlog status • Support project execution within terms and conditions of contract • Ensure continuous improvement in process and cost-efficiency • Ability to analyze problems and develop effective solutions at both strategic and functional levels • Work independently with minimal direction as a highly motivated self-starter
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited school in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field
- 8+ years of electric distribution and design experience with public utilities
- Knowledge of engineering and design for service line, including Pull Planner, Voltage Drop & Flicker, O-CALC, Autodesk software suite, Power Line Systems software suite
- Deep understanding of electric distribution material design, permitting requirements and calculations
- Ability to interpret construction documents to compile relevant information for distribution designs
- Knowledge of other applicable design software
- Knowledge of design principles and practices, including computer applications
- Knowledge of field techniques for construction
- Knowledge of safe working practices
- Knowledge of project management practices
- PE license is preferred or ability to obtain license.

A nuclear background is not required, but a healthy curiosity and eagerness to learn are essential in this role. Specific responsibilities may include: - Develop and maintain CI/CD infrastructure - Integrate data from engineering systems and tools (e.g., CAD, product lifecycle management, computational fluid dynamics, etc.) into reactor design and simulation pipelines. - Design, configure, and automate management of compute and data infrastructure. - Build internal tooling to support local development, QA, and compliance workflows. - Monitor and optimize system performance, troubleshooting issues as they arise. - Contribute to design discussions, write RFCs, and document processes, configurations, and workflows. - Collaborate across teams, balance competing priorities, and drive projects forward independently in the face of ambiguity. Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent industry experience - A minimum of 3 years of experience in a Software Engineering role - Fluency in Python, or significant Python experience plus fluency in a similar programming language - Knowledge of software engineering fundamentals and best practices: testing, version control, system design, etc. - Curiosity and passion for nuclear power, closing the nuclear fuel cycle, and sustainable energy generation. Requirements - Prior experience with our stack and tools is helpful, but not required: - Cloud services and concepts, in particular AWS. - Gitlab, especially Gitlab CI/CD. - Containerization technologies (Docker). - Infrastructure-as-code tooling (Ansible and Terraform). - Compiled/performance-oriented languages (Rust). - Linux/Unix system administration, virtualization technologies (VMWare), and core networking concepts. - Experience building systems that integrate varied third-party tools and APIs. - Experience working as a member of a distributed, remote team.
