Role Description This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. - The BHIP Psychologist functions as part of a multidisciplinary general mental health team. - Diagnoses and treats mental disorders, conducts psychological and cognitive assessments, and provides consultation to other providers regarding mental disorders. - Core duties include general service delivery for a wide range of mental and emotional concerns, especially treatment of serious mental illnesses. - Expected to conduct treatment sessions that are generally 30-45 minutes in length, with a span of 12 to 20 visits for most concerns. - Can expect to treat 6-8 patients per day and coordinate with providers of various disciplines for completion of intakes and treatment plans. - May assist in coordinating programming within various mental health programs. - Provides a full range of psycho-diagnostic services including psychological testing for major and secondary psychological disorders. - Performs psychological evaluations for individuals with mental health and medical disorders for diagnostic clarification and treatment planning recommendations. - Provides a range of psychological therapeutic interventions with an emphasis on time-limited, evidence-based treatments for common disorders. Qualifications - United States Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen. - English language proficiency: Must be proficient in spoken and written English. - Doctoral degree in psychology from an accredited program. - Successful completion of a professional psychology internship training program accredited by APA or CPA. - Must hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level. Requirements - Experience as a professional psychologist equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) for GS-12 applicants. - At least two years of experience as a professional psychologist for GS-13 applicants, with at least one year equivalent to the GS-12 grade level. Provides case management, resource facilitation, continuous reassessment of the individual’s rehabilitation needs and discharge planning. Counsels the people CRS supports and their families, oversight of the treatment process with contractors to ensure timely, cost effective provision of services and individual progress toward achievement of their goals. Develops and maintains relations with community referral sources and stakeholders. Works collaboratively with staff, individuals/families to provide education, coaching, mentoring, identifies gaps in resources, and build upon strengths to assist the individual to function independently in the home and community.
