Role Description The Mental Health Integration (MHI) Sleep Psychology position is administratively aligned with the Mental Health Service and is assigned as a collocated, collaborative, and integrated mental health care provider in Sleep Medicine. This is a full-time clinical position. The MHI Sleep Psychologist provides focused assessment, brief evidence-informed interventions, education, and consultation services to Veterans, and education and consultation for Specialty Medical Providers and allied team members. Clinical Responsibilities: - Maintains daily open access slots and encourages same day warm handoffs within the Specialty Medical Clinic. - Welcomes and encourages warm handoffs for all mental/behavioral health referral needs. - Conducts initial assessments focused on the main reason(s) for referral with attention to functional impairment. - Completes most individual appointments (both initial and follow-up) within 30 minutes. - Utilizes the Whole Health approach in clinical practice. - Supports Stepped-Care principles to facilitate timely services to Veterans. - Facilitates referrals for Veterans with more severe or complex needs. - Provides primarily time-limited, brief, evidence-informed individual and/or group interventions. - Utilizes intermittent visits and flexible patient contact strategies for longitudinal care. - Uses Measurement Based Care (MBC) in accordance with nationally recommended guidelines. - Supports a team-based approach to risk identification and intervention. - Collaborates with Specialty Medical Team members to support high-quality service delivery. - Ensures quality of care by completing national VA trainings and ongoing education modules. - Seeks and creates opportunities to engage in education about the medical population served. - Engages in Specialty Medical Team huddles and meetings to cultivate collaborative team functioning. Remote Position: Yes. This position is eligible for remote work and is currently operating under an extension of the Return-to-Office (RTO) mandate. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 4:30 PM Qualifications - Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected. - United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens. - English Language Proficiency Requirement: Proficiency in written and spoken English is required. - Education Requirement: Doctoral degree in psychology from an accredited program. - Internship Requirement: Successful completion of a professional psychology internship training program. - Licensure: Must hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology. - Physical Requirements: See VA Directive and Handbook 5019. Requirements - Training in CBT-I and other sleep disorder interventions. - Experience levels for GS-11, GS-12, and GS-13 Staff Psychologist positions. Role Description This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. - The BHIP Psychologist functions as part of a multidisciplinary general mental health team. - Diagnoses and treats mental disorders, conducts psychological and cognitive assessments, and provides consultation to other providers regarding mental disorders. - Core duties include general service delivery for a wide range of mental and emotional concerns, especially treatment of serious mental illnesses. - Expected to conduct treatment sessions that are generally 30-45 minutes in length, with a span of 12 to 20 visits for most concerns. - Can expect to treat 6-8 patients per day and coordinate with providers of various disciplines for completion of intakes and treatment plans. - May assist in coordinating programming within various mental health programs. - Provides a full range of psycho-diagnostic services including psychological testing for major and secondary psychological disorders. - Performs psychological evaluations for individuals with mental health and medical disorders for diagnostic clarification and treatment planning recommendations. - Provides a range of psychological therapeutic interventions with an emphasis on time-limited, evidence-based treatments for common disorders. Qualifications - United States Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen. - English language proficiency: Must be proficient in spoken and written English. - Doctoral degree in psychology from an accredited program. - Successful completion of a professional psychology internship training program accredited by APA or CPA. - Must hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level. Requirements - Experience as a professional psychologist equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) for GS-12 applicants. - At least two years of experience as a professional psychologist for GS-13 applicants, with at least one year equivalent to the GS-12 grade level.
