• Proactively coordinate medication refills including data entry and pharmacy claim adjudication • Make outbound patient refill phone calls and complete the patient refill request. • Answer, resolve and triage inbound inquiries. • Clarify prescription orders with pharmacist and/or clinician as appropriate. • Identify medications requiring special storage and/or handling such as hazardous medications and/or refrigerated medication. • Manage, organize, and update relevant data using database applications. • Apply observations and recommendations to operational issues, increased productivity, quality, and customer-service standards. • Identify trends, resolves problems; recommend improvements; implement change. • Actively participate in process improvement initiatives. • Act as a value-added business partner to stakeholders throughout the organization. • Protect organization's value by keeping information confidential. • Update knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining networks; participating in professional organizations • Other duties and/or responsibilities may apply
Job Requirements
- Candidates must hold an active North Carolina Pharmacy Technician license to be considered for this role.
- 1-3 years of Pharmacy Technician and adjudicating claims experience strongly preferred but not required - managing refills,
- Specialty pharmacy, working with clinical care teams, and working remotely
- Education: High school diploma or GED required
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, exceptional phone skills, comfortable with proactively engaging patients telephonically, comfortable reaching out to on-site clinicians, payors, and pharmacies telephonically, highly proficient in Microsoft Office particularly Excel and Word; able to quickly learn other programs, adapt to Shields’ unique model / tools and able to extract relevant information; strong organizational skills a must

• Reach out to members telephonically to assist with referrals, authorizations, HHC, DME needs, medication refills, make provider appointments and follow ups, etc. • Create cases, tasks, and complete documentation in the case management module for all hospital and skilled nursing facility (SNF) discharges • Comply and document tasks assigned by nurse • Work as a team with the case manager to engage and manage a panel of members • Manage new alerts and update case manager on changes in condition, admission, discharge, or new diagnosis • Establish relationships with members, earn their trust and act as patient advocate • Escalate concerns to nurse if members appear to be non-compliant or there appears to be a change in condition • Assist with outreach activities to members in all levels of case management programs • Assist with maintaining and updating members' records • Assist with mailing or faxing correspondence to members, primary care physicians (PCP), and / or Specialists • Request and upload medical records from PCP’s, specialists, hospitals, etc. • Meet specific deadlines (respond to various workloads by assigning task priorities according to department policies, standards, and needs) • Maintain confidentiality of information between and among health care professionals
