Senior Accounting Analyst
Sysco
• Prepare complex accounting entries and exercise judgement in the application of Sysco policies for financial reporting • Review and approve monthly and quarterly account reconciliations as prepared by the SBS Accounting Analyst and Global Staff Accountant to lower risk and ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance • Review and approve medium to high-risk journal entries as prepared by the SBS Accounting Analyst and Global Staff Accountant • Act as the escalation point of contact for the Sysco entities on the balance sheet accounts assigned • Overall responsibility for month-end task list, including BPC reporting packages for financial consolidation, on assigned accounts and entities to ensure all period close activities are completed on time and accurately • Prepare and reconcile key deliverables for various stakeholders • Provide documentation for assigned controls • Regularly attend key stakeholder meetings to discuss open risks and develop action plans to resolve • Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures • Develops and performs analytics on key accounts to drive resolution, create efficiencies in reviews, provide entity wide visibility, and reduce overall risk. • Responsible for understanding and applying the Financial & Accounting Methods Manual (FAMM) and suggesting additions and/or updates where necessary • Support internal and external audit requests • Review and provide feedback to the SBS Accounting Analyst and SBS Global team regarding Reconciliations, Journal Entries and other assigned tasks • Review and approve SOPs prepared by SBS Accounting Analyst and Global Staff Accountants; ensure the accuracy of current SOPs and assist SBS Accounting Analyst and Global Staff Accountants to revise if needed • Mentor new SBS Accounting Analysts and Staff Accountants at SBS Global team on Sysco Accounting processes and culture • Suggest process improvements and works with upstream process owners to streamline the end-to-end processes • Support the Accounting Manager on overall team management where necessary • Complete special projects as necessary • Ensures adherence to department goals/metrics, Internal Audit reports, and SLAs • Complete SBS Accounting Analyst responsibilities (as necessary and appropriate)
Job Requirements
- Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5 years Accounting or related experience
- Demonstrates the ability to analyze and reconcile reports
- Demonstrates skills in problem solving, team building, total quality management
- Ability to find & resolve discrepancies
- Able to collaborate and work cross-functionally to solve problems
- Knowledge of U.S. GAAP
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, specialized accounting / finance software ERP Systems (i.e., Workday, Visual Produce, etc.) and data wrangling software (i.e., Alteryx)
