JOB TITLE: Senior Business Systems Analyst DEPARTMENT: Information Technology STATUS: EXEMPT JOB CODE: 4509 PAY SCALE: $102,000.00 - $110,000.00 ANNUALLY GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Senior Business Systems Analyst is responsible for translating business data needs into data warehousing and reporting solutions through close collaboration with business teams to identify business requirements enabling data driven decision making throughout the enterprise. TASKS, DUTIES, FUNCTIONS: - This role covers all aspects of the Software Development Lifecycle with respect to data warehousing and reporting solutions. Requirements analysis, report content identification and report functionality analysis, SDLC documentation, and other recommend designs/solutions will be necessary to meet business or other requirements. - Determine and recommend reporting enhancements or improvements for existing as well as new processes through the use of enterprise business intelligence tools to enhance the analysis capability or operational efficiency of various business units within the organization. This includes working across business areas, applications, data domains and technologies. - Document business requirements (BRDs) and functional design specifications (FRDs) for conversions, interfaces and reports. - Drive efficient and effective joint business/IT requirements and solution discussions in addition to stakeholder review meetings. - Identify functional gaps and opportunities of improvement. - Coordinate and drive issue resolution with cross-functional teams during the design and development process. - Work closely with users to define and document use cases, scenarios and test scripts. - Prepare and execute test plans to ensure solution/design meet business requirements. - Create documentation for processes, training and operational support. - Ensure requirements are delivered in timely stages, allowing the design and development to make the necessary progress. - Maintain a thorough understanding of state and federal laws and regulations related to credit union compliance including bank secrecy and anti-money laundering laws appropriate to the position. - Ensure solutions within the environment follow established guidelines. - Research, define and evaluate data requirements and specifications for departmental projects. - Perform evaluations of data and data structures from disparate systems. Proactively seek opportunities to understand and improve business processes through data business intelligence and data analytics. - Mentors and trains other Business Systems Analyst as needed. - Act as liaison between business clients and technical staff throughout the life cycle of projects or process improvements. Coordinate effectively with IT and other departmental projects analysts and managers. - Stay current with technology trends, solutions and vendors. - Perform other job-related duties as necessary. PHYSICAL SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXERTION UTILIZED IN THE PERFORMANCE OF THESE TASKS: - Effective oral and written communication skills required to interpret, resolve, and document networking problems. - Occasional local, statewide and inter-state travel may be required. - Periodically work extended and weekend hours. - Ability to work under pressure. - Must possess sufficient manual dexterity to operate standard office equipment such as PC, copy and fax machines and telephones. ORGANIZATIONAL CONTACTS & RELATIONSHIPS: - INTERNAL: All Credit Union Staff - EXTERNAL: Vendors QUALIFICATIONS: - EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience. - EXPERIENCE: Combined minimum 7-10 years’ progressive experience in business requirements analysis and data analysis are key success factors in for this position. High intermediate to expert SQL skills are a must. Previous experience with data modeling, data analysis, data quality analysis and report development desired. Exposure to a diverse enterprise application landscape with a solid understand of how data flows through a business is critical to this position. - KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: - TECHNICAL: - Must be proficient at analyzing data with SQL, TSQL PSQL or Excel while accessing diverse application architectures and data models. - Ability to access and analyze data in complex data models with little supervision or input is a must. - Scripting experience with Bash, Powershell, Python or Perl desired. - Excellent analytical and technical skills in varied IT technologies. Proficient in software/hardware enterprise technologies, systems integrations and software/hardware release to production methodologies, etc - Excellent complex problem-solving skills. - Ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new and existing technologies. - NON-TECHNICAL: - Project and program management capabilities. - Proven experience in executing system and integration testing. - Proficient in requirements definition, evaluation and documentation. - Excellent planning and organization skills. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence technical and non-technical parties. - Ability to work with technical and business-oriented teams. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: - Carry and respond to a cell phone 7 days a week. May be able to diagnose problems from home, occasionally may need to travel to site to correct problem either by car or public conveyance. - Prolonged sitting throughout the day. - Must possess sufficient manual dexterity to skillfully operate applicable computer hardware, software and a variety of hand tools and standard office equipment. - Corrected vision in the normal range. - Corrected hearing in the normal range. A telephone device will be provided if needed. - Occasional bending, stooping, and standing on a stepladder. - Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
