Job Description
Senior Software Engineer
Dispensed Global
Role Description Dispensed is building the infrastructure that gets healthcare to patients across Australia, New Zealand, and the UK, and this role sits at the centre of that work. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will own features end-to-end across a TypeScript/Next.js and Node/Supabase stack, working directly with product managers to shape what gets built and how. The problems are genuinely hard: multiple healthcare verticals, prescription workflows, clinician tooling, and regulatory constraints across three jurisdictions mean that the technical decisions you make have real consequences for real patients. If you want a role where your architectural judgement matters, where you can see the line between what you ship and the care people receive, this is that role. What You'll Own - Lead the design and delivery of multi-week features or system changes from first principles through to production, coordinating work across engineers and surfaces where needed. - Produce design documents for projects spanning multiple services or components, articulate the trade-offs clearly, and drive the team to a well-reasoned decision. - Review code with the intent of raising the quality bar and helping engineers grow, not just catching bugs. - Identify risks, dependencies, and ambiguities in upcoming work before they become blockers, and surface them early to the team and product managers. - Pair with and mentor less experienced engineers, sharing context on systems, patterns, and decision-making in ways that build lasting capability on the team. - Push back on product or technical direction when something is heading toward a bad outcome, and propose a better path with enough clarity that others can engage with it. - Take ownership of quality and operational health across the features you work on, treating compliance, cost, and maintainability as part of the work rather than someone else's concern. Qualifications - 8+ years of software engineering experience, including senior-level ownership. - Proven experience defining and evolving architecture across systems or teams. - Strong full-stack background (Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, or similar). - Experience designing and scaling distributed systems, APIs, and integrations. - Solid cloud and deployment experience (AWS, Vercel, or similar). - Track record of leading cross-team initiatives and driving technical alignment. - Strong engineering judgment balancing quality, speed, and business impact. - Excellent communication skills, including during technical design writing. Highly Valued - Experience setting technical direction or standards across teams. - Background in regulated environments (e.g. healthcare, fintech). - Experience with platform modernisation (migrations, consolidation). - Understanding of security, patient data privacy, or healthcare systems. Benefits - Work From Anywhere. 🌍 - A competitive salary and awesome benefits package. 💰 - A supportive and positive work environment. 🌟 - Opportunities to grow and develop your career. 📈 - Opportunity to transform lives through alternative medicine. 💡
