• Assist the Chief Advocacy Officer and the Director of Policy Campaigns & Government Affairs in executing the organization’s policy campaign strategy. • Lead and support policy campaigns, building coalitions, facilitating stakeholder meetings, conducting research, monitoring legislative calendars, developing collateral (e.g., letters, petitions, fact sheets, talking points, etc.), advocating with decision makers, planning direct actions, coordinating events, supporting communications, and tracking progress. • Work closely with organizational partners and community members, implementing base building strategies when appropriate, to advance policy goals through robust and ethical coalition management, which includes elevating the leadership and voices of directly impacted people. • Track and support the implementation of previous policy wins, sharing best practices with correctional agencies, supporting procurement processes, and collecting data and analyzing results. • Collaborate with the communications team on campaign-related activities to ensure timeliness, accuracy, and consistency of campaign messaging. • Manage policy interns, fellows, volunteers, and other staff as assigned. • Manage administrative needs and tasks for campaigns and related events.
• Strengthen and grow the organization's fundraising program • Cultivate donor relationships and manage a grants portfolio • Identify and land meetings with new major donors • Maintain compliance with grant reporting deadlines • Develop a comprehensive donor cultivation and stewardship strategy • Conduct research on potential donors • Prepare meeting logistics for donor meetings • Maintain a comprehensive grants calendar • Draft grant proposals and reports • Collaborate with program staff for proposal content • Support the Executive Director in managing donor relationships
• Plan and execute the organization’s 10-year gala, coordinating with our event management and creative design firms to deliver a high-quality event experience for approximately 500 guests and development staff to meet our fundraising goals. • Plan and execute 12 book talk events with a minimum of 50 attendees each to specifically support curriculum placement, including outreach to academic and institutional partners. • Plan and execute three film screenings of The Alabama Solution with high-value targets in finance and policy, driving key decisions. • Plan and execute our annual staff and board retreat and three department retreats. • Plan and execute three direct actions to support the organization’s advocacy goals. • Work with the Chief Narrative Officer to develop and execute a plan, from start-to-finish, for the organization’s calendar of events. • Own end-to-end planning and execution of all Worth Rises events, including galas, retreats, book talks, film screenings, webinars, press conferences, direct actions, and other organizational events. • Develop and manage event timelines, budgets, vendor relationships, run-of-show, and participant engagement. • Liaise with and manage venues, vendors, and others in the event planning process. • Coordinate cross-functionally with other organizational teams on event promotion and logistics, including permitting, materials, and partner and press coordination. • Proactively identify and pitch new event and conference opportunities, thinking creatively about how Worth Rises can shows up across formats, audiences, and moments. • Build and maintain the organization's events infrastructure, including a database of past and prospective venues, vendors, speakers, and best practices. • Track event performance and produce post-event reports with learnings and recommendations.
• Co-develop a communications strategy, including editorial direction, with the Chief Narrative Officer and Executive Director that amplifies the organization’s brand, content, work, and staff to establish the organization as an expert, promote its thought leadership, advance impact, and support fundraising. • Collaborate with other directors and staff to ensure that all campaigns and projects have strategic public relations and communications support, considering campaign and project goals, audience, and resources and helping to develop effective messaging. • Manage the organization’s branding guide and ensure brand consistency in our public image and across all our work, including our print and digital presence. • Manage relationships with all marketing and communications-related contractors and vendors and oversee their contracted work product. • Lead the communications department, managing a growing team of staff and consultants supporting traditional media, digital media, storytelling, and creative design. • Develop and implement systems and processes to streamline marketing and communications workflow, with protocol to test new strategies and messaging. • Set, track, and analyze clear and measurable metrics to regularly inform strategy. • Develop and deepen relationships with producers, editors, and journalists, especially in broadcast and streaming media, and lead on media relationships and outreach. • Oversee traditional media functions, including drafting press releases, hosting press conferences, pitching coverage, and drafting opinion editorials. • Monitor daily news cycle and relevant coverage to pitch follow-up pieces and ensure the organization is a part of timely public conversations. • Prepare Executive Director for media appearances and speaking engagements. • Oversee the organization’s digital presence, including the website, email communications, and all social media. • Develop and implement an effective marketing funnel to increase the subscriber base, subscriber engagement, and small donor support. • Oversee the production of all written and digital content, including copywriting and creative design. • Oversee the ads program, including the full spend of donated Google Ads funds.
• Support the organization’s national corporate accountability work. • Draft and launch the End the Exception report cards for at least 25 major corporations. • Secure a minimum of 20 commitments for the Drop Vanguard campaign. • Lead or support the execution of at least three successful direct actions targeting prison profiteers. • Assist in managing corporate campaigns from planning through execution. • Conduct research, facilitate meetings, draft materials, and track progress. • Collaborate with the communications team on campaign-related activities.
