We are seeking an ambitious and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Associate Accountant. This role will report to the Controller and is ideal for someone eager to grow their accounting career within a dynamic, multi-entity, and international environment. The successful candidate will focus primarily on full-cycle Accounts Payable; while developing exposure and eventually taking on the Accounts Receivable cycle and revenue processes. This role will play a key part in ensuring accurate financial operations across multiple entities, currencies, and systems. Under Surfline’s “Work from Anywhere” policy, this position may be performed on a full-time remote basis from any location within California.What You'll Do: - Manage full cycle accounts payable, for multi-national entities from data entry to bank reconciliations: - Vendor Bill Review & Processing: Accurately review and process vendor bills using available tools and technology, ensuring proper coding and workflow approvals. - Weekly payment run preparation and review: utilizing various reports to pay vendors within set payment terms. - Month End Close: Assist with close activities including accruals, account reviews, and reconciliations. - Bank Reconciliations: Perform regular bank reconciliations; identify and resolve any discrepancies in bank transactions - Statement Review & Vendor Follow-Ups: Reconcile vendor statements and address any discrepancies or issues. - Travel & Expense System Management: Oversee the corporate credit card program, including monitoring expenses, follow-ups on outstanding items, and ensuring compliance with company policies. - Utilization of Accounting Tools: such as Excel, NetSuite, Ramp, and various bank providers. - Assist with Tax Compliance:1099’s - Growth Areas 6+ months: - Develop into full cycle accounts receivable: sales orders, invoices, cash applications, customer follow-ups - Inventory: track in-transit, installations, reconciliations - Adhoc projects as required What We're Looking For: - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred - 1-3 years of accounting or relevant internship experience preferred - Strong MS Office skills, particularly Excel - Strong attention to detail, organization, and reliability - Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions - Curiosity and eagerness to learn and grow within the accounting field - A “get it done” attitude You May Also Have: - Experience with accounting software (e.g., Sage Intacct, NetSuite, Bill.com, Navan, Ramp, Stripe, Paypal) - Experience or knowledge in handling multi-entity and multi-currency transactions is an advantage - Exposure to month end close practices - Passion for ocean-going activities Compensation and Benefits: The base salary range for this position is $60,000 - $80,000. In accordance with applicable state laws, the range provided is Surfline's reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may be higher or lower, based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and location. Surfline is seeking a motivated undergraduate student to join our Forecast Team as a part-time intern for Summer 2026. This role offers hands-on experience in surf forecasting operations, data analysis, and Python scripting. The intern will work closely with Lead Forecasters to support daily forecast production, validate data, and improve the accuracy and communication of surf reports for the U.S. East and West Coasts. Under Surfline’s “Work from Anywhere” policy, this position may be performed on a remote basis from any location within California. What You'll Do: Forecast Operations & Support - Assist in creating daily surf reports and forecasts for domestic markets. - Monitor real-time data sources (buoys, wind stations, smart cameras) for accuracy. - Participate in team discussions on forecast strategy and model interpretation. Data Analysis & Python Projects - Support data validation by analyzing surf model outputs and observational data. - Use Python for tasks such as automating workflows, cleaning datasets, and creating visualizations (creativity encouraged). Communication & Collaboration - Document insights and contribute to internal knowledge sharing. - Assist in preparing content that communicates forecast accuracy and model updates. - Attend team meetings and provide ideas to improve workflows and tools.
