GIS Data Project Manager Description The GIS Data Project Manager is responsible for the planning, direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of project activities related to SSP Data Services to ensure the viability and success of the project, while remaining aligned with strategy, commitments and goals of the organization. Requirements - Manage project scope and budget in accordance with contract(s) and project financial targets, including management of a change control process. This includes management of weekly and monthly financial/invoice forecasts. - Maintain gross profit percentage targets for each project milestone by careful monitoring and control of the tasks, hours, durations, and resources allotted in the project schedule. - Manage and maintain adherence to project schedule and deliverable milestones utilizing Microsoft Project Plan (MPP), including recommending and implementing corrective measures as required. - Manage and maintain resource utilization targets for all project staff. - Ensure project workflows and quality assurance/quality control procedures are designed and executed to consistently meet the project requirements and specifications resulting in first time client acceptance of deliverables. This includes identifying and recommending process improvements/enhancements on a continuous basis. - Develop proper project documentation to support required deliverables, project workflows, technical specifications, and quality assurance procedures. - Lead project teams of various sizes and see them through to project completion. - Establish/communicate/manage project success criteria and project expectations. Provide leadership for the project team by motivating and coaching team members to meet project goals. This includes effectively leading regularly scheduled project meetings. - Actively maintain knowledge of all activities within assigned project(s) via regular communication with all project team members and stakeholders. - Maintain effective professional working relationships, including regular interaction with client and company leadership. - Document and proactively manage project issues, risks, action items, and key decisions. - Prioritize project tasks and assignments and delegate to proper project resources. - Develop and maintain project tracking tool(s) to identify status of completeness, as well as manage productivity and quality metrics of the staff and project. - Manage and monitor project staff performance in accordance with SSP’s policies and applicable laws, as well as report any issues to direct manager and/or the Resource Manager. - Involved in performance appraisals, performance management, and staff development of project staff. This includes effective leadership, mentoring, and coaching. - Interview potential employees. - Provide weekly status reporting to the client regarding overall status of project including project milestones, deliverables, dependencies, risks, action items, and key decisions. - Maintain good understanding of company goals, financials, and initiatives to ensure alignment with day-to-day management of projects and staff. - Maintain good working knowledge of SSP internal project management and financial systems. Experience with setting up projects in the systems based on the sales proposal and MPP and ensuring alignment with defined milestones. This includes understanding how to report and interpret this information accurately out of these systems. - Maintain effective project administration ensuring timely communications and reporting to internal management and stakeholders, including timely and accurate time entry, financial forecasting, invoicing, and project estimates. This includes required attendance to the monthly Project Management Office (PMO) meeting with Project Managers and other senior resources. - Proactive response and resolution to technical or project issues that arise. - Innovate within the position to constantly improve and advance the role of project management within the company. Develop or recommend new (or improvements to existing) project management policies, procedures, tools, or templates. - Continue professional development to keep abreast of emerging technologies, methods, and best practices related to project management and GIS. - Understand and apply project management principles, methods, and techniques based on PMI Project Management Lifecycle and SSP’s defined PM Methodology. - Travel (domestic and/or international) to visit clients or subcontractors as required. Must be able to travel for up to two (2) weeks at a time. - Assist in development of proposal content and hours estimates for sales support. - Perform other duties as assigned. Required Skills & Competencies - 5-7 years of related GIS data management experience. - Good critical thinking and problem-solving skills. - Effective decision-making and leadership capabilities. - Strong interpersonal relations. - Detail oriented, organized, and quality focused. - Adaptable and ability to work independently. - Planning and time management skills. - Strong oral and written communication skills. - Ability to communicate issues and potential solutions. - Conflict resolution experience. - Takes the initiative to learn new things. - Proficient knowledge of MS Office Products including Microsoft Project. Education, Certifications, and/or Experience - Degree in Geography, Computer Science, a related field, and/or equivalent work experience. Relevant certifications are preferred, but not required. - A minimum of five progressive years of related project/management experience with GIS or within the utility field. - Demonstrated knowledge of advanced concepts in one or more commodities. - Formal project management training (PMI) a plus. Role Description The Account Executive is the face of the company to a broad section of the target market and responsible for driving business growth via the identification of new leads, fostering relationships, developing qualified opportunities, nurturing opportunities to sales wins, and an array of account management activities at existing customers. This position is part of a highly motivated, self-supporting sales team that drives SSP’s growth and are key enablers of the company’s strategic goals. - Achieve annual sales equal to or greater than personal goals provided by management - Retain and grow existing account business and engagement - Become well versed in the products & services offered by SSP Innovations: - Proactively learn the subject matter of the clients that SSP serves; this domain is primarily focused on large electric, gas, water and telecom utilities - Participate in regular meetings with VPSM to review initiatives, discuss opportunity pipeline, and requests for support - Participate in weekly “Sales & Staffing Sync” meetings to review high-probability and near-term opportunities with operations and staffing personnel, in order to ensure future projects are staffed properly - Participate in monthly sales team meetings and bi-annual sales summits to identify growth goals and gaps, develop culture connectedness, and other continuous improvement initiatives - Develop and execute a strategy for lead generation for SSP products and services within assigned territory: - Execute the plan via contacting personal business network, cold/warm calls, partnership building, marketing execution in tandem with Marketing department, and other tactics as needed. - Attend targeted industry conferences to represent SSP Innovations in a sales capacity: - Work closely with SSP’s partners to identify targeted partnership opportunities. - Create and maintain a list of prospective new customers. - Proactively manage list of open opportunities with care to push each forward toward sale when / how appropriate. - Be attentive to assigned portfolio and able to answer impromptu basic questions about last step, next step, opportunity timing, amount, risks, etc. - Follow the processes that SSP already has in place and be enthusiastic about contributing new ideas on how those processes can be improved - Enter and manage list of my open sales opportunities within Salesforce. Must be kept up to date with weekly updates to support staffing and revenue projection. Opportunity management includes significant revenue-related reporting on unsigned opportunities which is my responsibility to enter and keep up to date - Maintain and enhance relationships with key stakeholders of targeted large accounts – both past customers and new prospects. - Provide regular feedback to the VP-SM, VP-Product, and Director of Marketing on requirements for go-to-market materials including content, target audience, and media type. - May perform other duties as assigned in support of the overall success of the company. Role Description SSP is seeking a highly motivated Account Executive, Managed Services to spearhead growth of our expanding managed services portfolio. This is a strategic, hunter-oriented sales role focused on selling recurring, SLA-driven service offerings that operate within a shared-risk partnership model. This individual will be responsible for developing a small but rapidly growing segment of our business into a major revenue stream. The target market includes U.S.-based electric, gas, and water utilities, with a focus on executive and director-level leaders within utility operations and engineering departments. This role complements our existing sales team that primarily serves GIS and IT buyers—but operates independently, owning the full sales cycle from prospecting to close. The successful candidate will be entrepreneurial, persistent, and excited by the challenge of breaking into new accounts and shaping a high-growth services line. Key Offerings Sold - Data Managed Services - Data management, maintenance, and quality assurance - Capital construction work order posting into the GIS - Regulatory-driven data cleansing, verification, and quality management - Cloud-Hosted GIS Administration Services - Fully hosted GIS environment with SSP responsible for administration, performance, upgrades, customizations, integrations, support, and related application and data services These offerings represent significant growth opportunities for SSP—especially cloud-hosted GIS services, a high-potential but early-stage line with strong organizational backing. Responsibilities - Drive net-new revenue by selling managed services to electric, gas, and water utilities across the U.S. - Identify, qualify, and engage prospective customers in utility operations and engineering leadership roles. - Build and manage a robust sales pipeline, with early emphasis on prospecting, relationship development, and long-cycle deal shaping. - Collaborate with SSP’s expert consultants, solution architects, and operational leaders to craft compelling value propositions and proposals. - Work closely with SSP’s marketing communications team to leverage campaigns, demand-generation initiatives, and thought-leadership content. - Lead (with internal support) all aspects of the sales cycle, including discovery, positioning, proposal development, pricing discussions, and contract negotiation. - Achieve annual bookings targets, with compensation tied directly to sales performance. - Serve as the “voice of the market” internally, sharing customer insights to help evolve and refine SSP’s managed service offerings. Requirements - 10+ years of successful sales experience targeting electric and/or gas utility operations or engineering buyers. - Proven track record of winning new business, with strengths in consultative selling and long-cycle deal management. - Experience selling managed services, subscription programs, or recurring service models into utilities is strongly preferred. - Demonstrated ability to break into new accounts and engage executives at utilities of all sizes. - Strong business development instincts, including pipeline generation, cold outreach, and leveraging personal networks. - Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills. - Ability to operate independently as the company’s primary face of this portion of the portfolio while collaborating effectively with internal subject matter experts. - Comfort working remotely and traveling as needed to build customer relationships across the U.S. Compensation - Competitive base salary + performance-based bonus - Bonus structure aligned directly with achievement against bookings targets
