Role Description The starting salary range for this position is $5,875.00 per month depending upon qualifications and is non-negotiable. Funded by the Tobacco Related Disease Research Program of California (TRDRP), this community-based participatory research project aims to: - Evaluate the effectiveness of the youth-informed Tobacco Harm Reduction through Expressive Arts (TobExA) strengths-based intervention to prevent and reduce tobacco and tobacco-cannabis co-use among housing insecure and systems-impacted adolescents and transitional-aged youth. - Elucidate strategies to implement, sustain, and scale TobExA in youth service settings. This project is collaboratively overseen by: - Dr. Jennifer Felner, Associate Professor of Public Health at San Diego State University (SDSU). - Ms. Haley Veniegas, Director of Services. - Ms. Renatta Escobedo, Program Manager, at San Diego Youth Services (SDYS). This position is supervised by Dr. Felner at the SDSU Institute for Behavioral and Community Health (IBACH) and will work closely with Ms. Venigas and Ms. Escobedo. Under the immediate supervision of Dr. Felner, the study Program Manager will perform advanced community-based participatory research activities pertaining to: - Study coordination. - Overseeing equitable partner engagement and participatory planning processes. - Overseeing qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis efforts. - Supporting participant engagement and retention. - Supporting oversight of broader community-academic research team. Performance in this role will be supported by prior scientific knowledge from the appropriate coursework and skills acquired through community-based work experience. Qualifications - Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and administration work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs. - Five years of progressively responsible experience in office or administrative environment. - Master’s degree in public health or related field (preferred). - Bilingual/Biliterate (Spanish-English) proficiency (preferred). Role Description The starting salary range for this position is $6250.00 per month depending upon qualifications and is non-negotiable. This position will be assigned to work as an integral member of the Hawaii training project (10%), the New York Sub Minimum Wage to Competitive Integrated Employment (SWTCIE) project (80%), and the Employment Transition Model Demonstration project (10%) within the Interwork Institute. - The Hawaii training project will support professionals in the vocational rehabilitation field in gaining knowledge and skills to better support people. - The NY SWTCIE will support ACCES-VR in developing a guide for Community Rehabilitation Providers in implementing customized employment for individuals with disabilities. - The position may support research for comprehensive statewide needs assessments (CSNAs) for the VR program. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator and Project Director, the Outreach and Training Specialist (OTS) will collaborate with a team(s) that provides training to staff and partners of public vocational rehabilitation programs, initially in Hawaii, and community rehabilitation providers across the country. The OTS will support the development of training and implementation materials for both the SWTCIE and ETM projects, and support the implementation of CSNAs for VR programs through contracts with specific agencies. Role Description Under the supervision of the Managing Editor and/or News Director, the Freelance News Editor coaches, guides and directs a team of reporters on both daily and long-term assignments. This role manages, edits, assigns and reviews day-to-day news coverage across radio, TV, and digital platforms, and coordinates coverage needs with the Senior Producers. With support and oversight from the Managing Editor and/or News Director, the Freelance News Editor also provides input and assistance on projects under their purview. The Freelance News Editor is responsible for ensuring that coverage prioritizes accountability reporting, people-centered storytelling, and a mix of thought-provoking stories and explainers that broaden audience understanding. KPBS is committed to delivering high-quality, in-depth local news and analysis across all platforms. The mission of the news division is to provide fair, accurate reporting on the people and issues that matter to the San Diego and Imperial County communities. This position plays a critical role in advancing this mission by supervising reporters and elevating the quality of their stories. The Freelance News Editor is responsible for but not limited to: - Leadership & Supervision (50%) - Work with reporters to develop story ideas that cover issues with major impact in our audience member’s lives, including people-centered stories, lively explainers that dissect the WHY or HOW behind the news or a trend, and breaking news. - Coach, guide, and direct reporters and engage in regular air checks and feedback sessions. - Ensure writing is focused, conversational, and accurate. - Ensure that reporter beat memos are up to date (weekly) and that coverage plans are reviewed. - Reinforce the importance of beat mission statements that clearly explain the purpose and focus of each reporter’s coverage, helping build a transparent and trusting relationship with KPBS audiences. - Encourage pitches, provide guidance to refine them, and carefully select ones that best align with the KPBS news mission. - Maintain ongoing and collaborative relationships with various KPBS department leaders and the local community. - Contribute to daily news meetings and ensure KPBS is covering the top stories in San Diego and Imperial counties daily. Role Description The PAC Teaching Artist and Mentor in music is responsible for the implementation and support of the Arts Facilitator Training music program inside Avenal State Prison and, as needed, at other CDCR institutions throughout California. They lead classes and mentor peer facilitators, cultivating creative communities within the correctional institutions. Teaching Artists report to the Regional Lead, PAC Leadership team and work closely with teaching and administrative staff.
