Role Description Ship product from day one inside a multi-billion-dollar federal arbitration market. Work with AI as a real collaborator, not a demo. As a Founding Software Engineer, you will build the product end to end alongside the Head of Engineering and a small, senior team. You will: - Ship features across the stack — data pipelines, backend services, LLM integrations, and product UI - Write, read, and iterate on specs. Turn a paragraph of intent into working code - Use AI tooling (Claude Code, Cursor, agentic frameworks) as a core part of your workflow — to accelerate yourself, not replace your judgment - Partner with operations directly. The person running a claim is often sitting next to you; their feedback is your backlog - Build features for regulated environments where correctness, auditability, and financial impact are tightly coupled - Take real ownership of production systems: observability, on-call, quality, and quick fixes included - Help define engineering culture from the start: code review norms, testing posture, documentation habits You will write code every day. You will also think about the product, the workflow, and the customer. We are not looking for ticket-takers; we are looking for engineers who want a say in what gets built and why. Qualifications - 2+ years building and shipping production software. Full-stack exposure strongly preferred - Meaningful hands-on experience with AI tooling and LLM-powered features. You have integrated models into real products, not just tried the playgrounds - Comfort across the stack: TypeScript/Node, Python, SQL, a modern frontend framework. The specific stack matters less than the ability to pick things up - Strong instincts for data modeling, API design, and the difference between a clean abstraction and an over-engineered one - A preference for small teams and early-stage chaos over mature org charts - Experience building in regulated or security-sensitive environments (HIPAA, SOC 2, PCI, financial controls) is a plus - Familiarity with healthcare data (claims, EDI, HL7/FHIR, clearinghouses) is a plus. Not required — we'll teach the domain to the right person - Sound judgment, technical depth, and ownership mindset are required. Grit matters more than pedigree. Requirements - You are AI-pilled. You have used AI tools to ship real work, and you have opinions about which ones are useful and which are hype. - You are a strong generalist. You're comfortable jumping between backend, frontend, data, and AI integration. - You have a bias to action. You don't default to no. Speed of iteration over polish of iteration. - You are intellectually honest and curious. You ask questions when you don't understand something. - You care about the craft. You write code you would be comfortable handing to anyone else. - You put the team first. You are reliable and fully invested. Benefits - Base salary range: $140,000 to $180,000, with meaningful equity. - Standard health, dental, and vision benefits. - Expect our team to take real vacation time. Role Description As Founding Operations Associate, you will run the day-to-day claims workflow and turn what you learn into better product. You will: - Operate the end-to-end claim workflow: ingestion, eligibility checks, evidence packaging, submission, settlement tracking - Spot patterns in real claims and translate them into specs, checklists, and prompts that improve the system - Work directly with AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, agentic frameworks) to automate your own work and move features forward - Partner with the Head of Operations and engineering team to ship product, not just flag issues - Build and maintain dashboards and SOPs that treat AI as a first-class team member - Own quality and throughput metrics for the claims you run, and raise the bar over time - Represent the operations perspective in product reviews, customer conversations, and design sessions This is not a ticket-queue role. You will write code-adjacent artifacts (specs, SQL queries, workflow diagrams, AI prompts) and you will ship. You'll learn the domain deeply, and you'll shape how the company actually works. Qualifications - 2+ years in a role that rewards analytical rigor and operational ownership: ops, consulting, investment banking, revenue cycle, data analytics, or a similarly structured early career - Hands-on fluency with AI tooling (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or similar). You have used it to ship or accelerate real work - Comfort with data and analytical tools (SQL, Excel, Python, or equivalent). You can pull answers yourself rather than filing a request - Clear written communication. You can turn messy inputs into a crisp spec, checklist, or summary - A preference for small teams and early-stage chaos over mature org charts - Healthcare revenue cycle, claims operations, or exposure to the No Surprises Act is a strong plus. Not required — we'll teach the domain to the right person - Experience writing product specs, user stories, or equivalent artifacts that can be built against is a plus Requirements - You are AI-pilled. You have used AI tools to do work that would have taken a team, and you have opinions about which ones are useful and which are hype. - You have strong analytical instincts. You're the person who can walk into a messy spreadsheet, figure out what's going on, and build something cleaner. - You have a bias to action. You don't default to no. Speed of iteration over polish of iteration. - You have technical fluency. You're comfortable working with data, querying systems directly, and getting hands on to move work forward. - You are intellectually honest and curious. You ask questions when you don't understand something and use plain language. - You care about the craft. You notice when something is slightly off and close the loop. - You put the team first. You are reliable and fully invested. Benefits - Base salary range: $120,000 to $150,000, with meaningful equity. - Standard health, dental, and vision benefits. - Encouragement to take real vacation time. Role Description As Founding Head of Engineering, you will architect and build the core intelligence layer of the company. You will: - Design the foundational data architecture across heterogeneous healthcare systems - Define the modeling approach for expected value and win probability - Lead production LLM integration for structured reasoning and document generation - Build compliant, auditable workflows deeply integrated into provider systems and suitable for regulated environments - Establish security posture — HIPAA, SOC 2 readiness, and data governance - Recruit and lead a small, high-caliber engineering team - Partner closely with an experienced product leader on product strategy and long-term technical direction Qualifications - 7+ years in software engineering, with 3–5+ years in senior technical leadership (Director, VP, or Head of Engineering) - Experience building and scaling complex, data-intensive platforms from early stage through growth - Strong architecture depth across workflow orchestration, ML-enabled systems, or high-volume transaction processing - Experience deploying LLM-based features in production - Hands-on technical depth — you still write code and review architecture while building a team - Experience building in regulated or security-sensitive environments (HIPAA, SOC 2, financial controls, or similar) - Experience hiring and leading small engineering teams - Familiarity with healthcare data (claims, EDI, HL7/FHIR, clearinghouses) is a strong plus - Experience designing systems where correctness, auditability, and financial impact were tightly coupled is highly valued - Sound judgment, technical depth, and ownership mindset are required Requirements - You operate comfortably in ambiguity - You’ve designed systems where the data was messy, the rules evolved, and the stakes were real - You have the kind of urgency that’s quick and deliberate — not frantic - You’re intellectually honest and keep digging until you understand - You over-invest in communication to understand, not to convince - You’re resourceful and see constraints as design challenges - You put the team first and build a culture where people do their best work Benefits - Base salary range: $200,000 to $225,000, with meaningful equity - Standard health, dental, and vision benefits - Encouragement to take real vacation time Equal Opportunity Recourse is an equal opportunity employer. Role Description Design the operating system of a healthcare AI company. Write the specs. Ship the product. As Founding Head of Operations, you will own how Recourse runs its claims workflow, and how that workflow gets encoded into product. You will: - Own end-to-end claim operations: ingestion, eligibility, evidence packaging, submission, settlement tracking - Turn real-world claim patterns into specs and drive them to production, often by steering agents yourself - Design the division of labor between AI agents, human operators, and customer teams - Build the operating cadence: OKRs, weekly rhythms, throughput metrics, quality standards - Stand up partner onboarding and customer success for provider and legal-partner relationships - Partner closely with the Head of Engineering to ship product, not just document requirements - Use AI tooling directly (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, agentic frameworks) to move specs, data, and early features forward without waiting on engineering cycles - Build the playbook as we scale from dozens of claims to thousands This is not a classic COO role and it is not a classic head-of-ops role. It is the person who makes sure the product matches the work, and the work matches the product. You will write code-adjacent artifacts (specs, workflow diagrams, AI prompts) and you will ship. Qualifications - 5+ years of operations leadership, ideally spanning healthcare revenue cycle, claims operations, or a similarly regulated domain - A track record of designing and running workflows at scale, not just documenting them - Meaningful technical fluency: comfort with data, analytical tools, and getting hands on to move work without waiting on engineering - Deep familiarity with AI tooling (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, agentic frameworks). You have shipped things using them, not just demo'd them - Experience writing product specs, user stories, or equivalent artifacts that can be built against - A preference for small teams and early-stage chaos over mature org charts - Experience managing outside partners (law firms, vendors, offshore teams, customer ops) is a strong plus - Familiarity with the No Surprises Act, IDR, payer contracting, or out-of-network claims is a major plus - Experience designing systems where correctness, auditability, and financial impact are tightly coupled is highly valued. - Sound judgment, operational depth, and ownership mindset are required. Requirements - You are AI-pilled. You have opinions about which agentic frameworks matter, which ones are hype, and which tools you reach for first. - You have strong operational common sense. You can walk into a messy process, figure out what actually matters, and produce a clean system. - You have a bias to action. You don't default to no. Speed of iteration over polish of iteration. - You have technical fluency. You're comfortable working with data, querying systems directly, and getting hands on to move work forward rather than waiting for engineering cycles. - You understand healthcare, ideally revenue cycle. You know what an 835 is. - You are intellectually honest and curious. You seek out the things that might disconfirm your beliefs, not just confirm them. - You put the team first. You are reliable and fully invested. You know sustainable intensity beats burnout. Benefits - Base salary range: $150,000 to $200,000, with meaningful equity. - Specific offers are calibrated to experience, location, and scope of the role. - Standard health, dental, and vision benefits. - Expect our team to take real vacation time.
