The Safety and Just Service Team position provides financial oversight and operational support to departments such as Emergency Communications, the Sheriff's Office, and the County Attorney's Office. The Accountant for the Health & Wellness Service Team provides financial oversight and operational support to departments such as Social Services, Public Health, and Community Corrections. Responsibilities include reviewing and processing journal entries, budget adjustments, grant agreements, and contractual obligations; monitoring and reconciling program budgets; supporting grant-funded initiatives; and ensuring compliance with county, state, and federal requirements. The role also contributes to financial reporting that supports transparency, accountability, and systemwide operational effectiveness. To view Ramsey County's Flexible Workplace policy, go to: Flexible Workplace Policy - Prepare financial reports, operating statements, accounts payable statements, accounts receivable statements and similar periodic reports for management by reviewing, analyzing and compiling financial information in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. - Assemble and prepare budget information by analyzing accounting records and reports and estimating revenues and expenses. - Review and approve claims, invoices, purchase orders, accounts payables and other documents relating to receipts, expenditures, transfers and other transactions to ensure that transactions are accurate and in conformance with established policies, contracts, appropriate accounting practices, and that adequate funds are available, initiate corrective actions as necessary. - Maintain ledger, journals and other financial control records by classifying, recording and/or processing transactions in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles; establish internal controls, reconcile subsidiary ledgers and recommend corrective actions as necessary. - Conduct financial analyses of purchase of service contracts or other financial programs by reviewing and evaluating financial records, reports, contracts, proposals or similar source documents in order to provide accurate and timely information for decision making by management. - Participate in contract development by conducting preliminary audits on new outside contractors, provide technical accounting assistance to contractors and perform financial evaluations on proposed contracts. - Prepare grant budgets and the necessary budget adjustments in order to properly fund and control grant awards; prepare the necessary monthly/quarterly report of financial or statistical data to funding agencies. - Respond to requests for information from auditors or other external funding sources concerning the financial activities of a county program. - Provide support to users of county-wide financial systems. - Prepare annual submissions to state and federal agencies. - Operate computer equipment; produce, obtain or analyze computer-generated information in performing the accounting duties assigned. - Provide training or direction to other accounting support staff. Peer Counselors use their personal breastfeeding/chest feeding experience and specialized training to provide one-on-one support to clients throughout the normal course of human lactation during the first year of life. Through phone calls and text communication, counselors reinforce evidence-based lactation recommendations in a socially and culturally appropriate manner and promote breastfeeding as an important part of healthy infant development. Peer Counselors share similar socioeconomic backgrounds, language, culture, and/or race or ethnicity with the families they serve to build trust and meaningful connections within the community. This part-time role offers 5-30 hours per pay period, with varying schedules that may include evenings and weekends based on client needs. A WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselor is a paraprofessional person who gives basic lactation information, encouragement, and support to pregnant and chest/breastfeeding WIC program participants.
