Role Description The Interim Senior Writer works across multiple entities within the Pivotal ecosystem and is responsible for delivering world-class thinking, writing, and storytelling in support of the Principal, the Pivotal brand and Pivotal leadership. This position works closely with the Senior Manager, Speechwriting & Editorial Content to develop content including: - Op-eds - Essays - Speeches - Social media posts - Scripts - Blogs - Website copy - Other internal and external communications This individual collaborates with colleagues across Pivotal and its partner organizations to support Pivotal’s mission to advance social progress. Qualifications - Minimum 5-7 years of experience writing for high-profile leaders, foundations, newspapers, periodicals, or related organizations, or an equivalent combination of advanced training and experience. - Demonstrated ability to synthesize data and evidence into clear, accessible arguments. - Experience writing for a variety of audiences (e.g., decision-maker, online) and formats (e.g., contributed content, social posts, and websites). - Deep understanding of cultural and geographical considerations. - Proficiency using Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and SharePoint). - Fluency in use of systems necessary to role (e.g., Workday). - Willingness and ability to travel as needed both domestically and internationally. Requirements - Conceive, draft, and edit a wide range of deliverables for the Principal, the Pivotal brand, and Pivotal leadership, operating with minimal direction. - Play a strategic role in positioning the Principal and Pivotal spokespeople as thought leaders. - Effectively translate programmatic work into clear, accessible language. - Support other writing assignments as needed, including ghostwriting support for program experts and senior leadership. - Stay current on breaking news, op-eds, white papers, events, and issues relevant to the Principal and Pivotal. - Simultaneously manage multiple writing projects and editorial processes from conception to completion. - Navigate a complex and collaborative ecosystem, effectively managing relationships and information flow. - Collaborate with Creative Studio and Digital teams to transform content into social-friendly formats. - Represent the team at meetings and support team operations such as content archiving and fact-checking. - Foster a culture of inclusivity and accountability across the Communications & Public Affairs team and its partners. - Maintain flexibility and the ability to adapt to evolving strategies and situations. - Demonstrate equity in all aspects of work, consistent with organizational values and legal requirements. - Travel domestically and, occasionally, internationally. - Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Role Description The Senior Program Strategy Manager, Political Engagement, delivers key workstreams across the Program Strategy team as part of the Advocacy and Public Affairs team to support efforts to increase women’s political power in the U.S., support democracy and election protection, and enhance cross-cutting political efforts that advance Pivotal’s goals. - Perform work on behalf of Pivotal Initiatives Fund and Pivotal Philanthropies Foundation. - Partner closely with other Program Strategy teams to advance political and programmatic objectives. - Lead existing grantmaking initiatives and support the development of new grantmaking strategies. - Track the political landscape as it relates to team objectives. - Handle bodies of work and track high-priority deliverables on the Program Strategy team. Qualifications - Minimum of 10-12 years of experience in philanthropic, political, government, non-profit sectors, and/or grantmaking strategy. - Expertise in philanthropy and strategy development including long-term planning against identified goals. - Strong skills in partnership development and management. - Experience navigating political, business and/or coalition environments successfully. - Proven track record of designing effective strategies and strategic initiatives to advance impact goals. - Strong written and verbal communication skills. - Experience managing consultants. - Proficiency using Microsoft 365 and Salesforce. - Willingness and ability to travel frequently and extensively within the United States.
