Role Description The Referral Support Specialist (IRC PASR) is responsible for performing pre-processing and intake support functions for referred patient care requests received through the Incoming Referral Center (IRC). This role supports the referral lifecycle prior to Referral Coordinator (RC) review by ensuring referral documentation is accurately received, indexed, validated for completeness, and prepared for downstream processing. Role Description The Medical Staff Office (MSO) serves as the central hub for all credentialing and privileging activities that support HMC's medical staff and ensures safe, high-quality patient care. Department Overview The Research Development Administration (RDA) Business Services Group (BSG) provides operational support to numerous RDA departments, including Technology Transfer (TT), Office of Proposal and Award Management (OPAM), OHSU Research Integrity Office (ORIO), Clinical Research Services Office (CRSO), and Collaborations and Entrepreneurship (CE). Operational support includes all finances, all RDA electronic systems, Human Resources (HR) transactions and activities, and all general operations. The BSG has oversight and direction for all RDA research systems including OGA, lnfoEd, elRB, elACUC, elRB, eCol, OnCore, RCR/CITI, lnteum, Tech Portal Storefront, and RDA Cognos packages and reporting. Function/Duties of Position OHSU has a number of contracting units that handle a variety of incoming and outgoing contracts helping to fulfill OHSU’s varied missions. This position works independently and is required to make independent decisions and determinations to contracting office leadership regarding complex contracts. The incumbent works closely with the various contracting units at OHSU to review complex and multi-faceted contracts and identify the correct contracting unit to process the contract. This position also works with external contracting entities to ensure accurate data and information is available to make authoritative decisions on contract execution. This position develops and maintains a unified workflow map for all contracting office routing and tracks and analyzes data to guide policy and/or process improvement decision-making. The data is used to make authoritative decisions as to which office will be assigned a contract when similar contracts are triaged. This work has the overarching goal of continually seeking opportunities to improve the overall flow between the various contracting units at OHSU. In addition, this position will look to the future to develop and continually improve an AI tool to benefit triage for OHSU. - Review, triage, and collect data on complex contracting issues from internal and external stakeholders for incoming and outgoing contracts and determine the correct contracting office to process the contract. Perform high level analysis of complex contracts, consulting with contracting offices as needed, and make appropriate triage decisions based on this analysis. Communicate with external contracting entities to collect data and information and facilitate smooth execution of contracts. - Coordinate with the OHSU contracting units and OHSU Legal Office as necessary, utilizing workflow map for contract routing and identify areas for improvement. Work independently and make decisions and recommendations to contracting office directors regarding complicated process and workflow improvements crossing multiple missions and offices. - Communicate with internal stakeholders as to the status of requests, contracts and process improvement efforts as necessary. Coordinate continuous improvements to existing processes and policies. - Develop and update contracting triage policies and procedures, coordinate and facilitate relevant multi-contract unit meetings. - Develop education and socialization strategies for OHSU stakeholders, including development of materials and documentation and attendance at meetings, forums, trainings and events to ensure stakeholders are familiar with contracting triage resources. Ensure all relevant contracting and department personnel are familiar with contracting triage processes and procedures. Role Description This position will bill, process adjustments, collect on accounts, and/or perform customer service duties to ensure that monies due University Hospital are secured and paid in a timely manner and the AR outstanding days of revenue are kept to a minimum. Assignment will be flexible depending on payor mix, patient flow, and workload fluctuations. Qualifications - Two years of recent (within the last 5 years) experience billing or collecting healthcare accounts in a business office; OR - Four years of general collection, billing or customer service experience; OR - Equivalent combination of education and experience. - Certified Revenue Cycle Specialist (CRCS) is required within 18 months of hire. Requirements - Submit bills that comply with all appropriate regulations, managed care contracts to third party payors. - Calculate the correct reimbursement of all managed care claims. - Collect assertively and proactively money due OHSU by contacting third parties (insurance carrier, various government programs, etc.). - Provide explanation of charges and additional requested information to the third parties. - Analyze accounts to determine coordination of benefits, refunds, and denials to ensure appropriate resolution of accounts. - Review billing to determine medical records necessary to provide complete processing of claim. - Analyze accounts with regard to billing and payment history and use judgment to determine appropriate follow-up action based on departmental guidelines. - Contact patient/guarantor to resolve issues (includes tracing and locating patient/guarantor by telephoning and/or sending written correspondence). - Analyze accounts and interpret contracts that dictate how claims should be paid and process adjustments for contract interpretation. - Comply with special billing and follow-up requirements regarding adoptions, court holds, motor vehicle and personal injury accidents, and other unique or sensitive accounts. - Work reports of denied claims to trend and report these claims to the department and to our front end partners. - Work closely with admitting, care management and ambulatory services on the denied claims for resolution and feedback purposes. - Other duties as assigned, including activities that are classified as team support and environmental activities. Department Overview OHSU’s Business Intelligence & Advanced Analytics (BIAA) team is seeking a Senior Application Engineer to support population health, value-based care, financial analytics, and data-driven clinical operations across the OHSU Health System. This remote role plays a critical part in developing, optimizing, and supporting our enterprise data warehouse solutions—including Epic Caboodle, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, and modern Azure-based ETL platforms. You’ll design and build scalable data structures, create and maintain ETL pipelines, support analytics for clinical and operational leaders, and ensure the accuracy, reliability, and security of healthcare encounters, financial, and claims data. This is a highly technical, hands-on engineering role suited for candidates who thrive in complex healthcare data environments. Function/Duties of Position Data Engineering and ETL Development (Caboodle, Fabric, Azure) - Design, develop, and optimize ETL pipelines using Epic Caboodle Console, SQL Server SSIS, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Lake Storage, and Azure Data Factory. - Build and maintain star-schema data structures including facts, dimensions, SCDs, aggregates, and bridge tables. - Perform advanced SQL / T-SQL coding, optimization, data profiling, validation, and source-to‑target mapping. - Support secure ingestion and exchange of data with third-party partners, including SFTP/PGP workflows. - Troubleshoot ETL failures, data anomalies, and performance issues across hybrid on-prem and cloud pipelines.
