Role Description Accountable for the precise and prompt management of full-cycle in-house payroll for both Canadian and US employees, covering tasks such as: - Preparing government remittances - Reconciling payroll and benefit deductions - Executing earnings and deductions - Handling year-end processing Qualifications - Post-secondary education or relevant experience in Human Resources - Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP), or Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) is an asset - 1-3 years of payroll processing experience is preferred - Experience with in-house payroll processing is an advantage - Familiarity with US payroll processing across multiple states is an advantage but not essential - Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook - Ability to organize and prioritize assignments to meet tight deadlines Requirements - Process full-cycle weekly and bi-weekly payroll processing, ensuring deadlines are met and activities comply with ICFR controls, payroll tax regulations, labor laws, and applicable union agreements - Enter, update, and validate payroll transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness - Review payroll information related to new hires, employee status or rate changes, and terminations - Maintain proper documentation for payroll inputs and processing activities in accordance with payroll policies and record-keeping requirements - Provide backup support to payroll team members to ensure continuity of payroll operations - Administer court-ordered payments and garnishments, ensuring accurate calculation, processing, and timely remittance - Process payroll deductions and reimbursements associated with benefit programs and company initiatives, including safety footwear, work clothing, and union-related leaves - Oversee deductions such as union dues, charitable contributions (e.g., United Way), and other voluntary or statutory payroll deductions - Reconcile and submit government payroll remittances accurately and on time - Support payroll compliance by following established procedures, internal controls, and ICFR requirements - Support with quarterly and year-end payroll activities, including T4 and W-2 reporting - Generate and submit Records of Employment (ROEs) for Canadian employees - Provide payroll data to the payroll tax team to support withholding filings and regulatory compliance - Prepare regular payroll reports and respond to ad hoc reporting requests as needed - Collaborate with HR representatives to ensure payroll data is accurate and submitted within required timelines - Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll and benefits in a professional and timely manner Benefits - Be a part of a team leading the world’s electrification of mass mobility - Competitive wages and comprehensive benefit package with immediate benefit eligibility - Paid holidays and vacation - Registered pension plan with generous company match - Passionate about creating a better product, a better workplace, and a better world - Inclusive workplace culture that values and empowers team members - On-the-job training in a continuous learning environment (we invested $15.9 million in 2024) - Advancement opportunities within our family of companies - We are proudly named one of Manitoba’s Top 25 employers

Role Description The Payroll Systems Compliance Specialist supports the accuracy, compliance, and efficiency of Canadian and U.S. payroll systems. This role serves as a key resource for payroll system functionality and regulatory compliance, ensuring system configurations align with legislative requirements. The specialist will also support system testing, issue resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives. What You Will Do: - Serve as a subject matter expert for payroll system configuration, calculations, and overall functionality for Canadian and US payrolls. - Support compliance with all applicable federal, provincial/state, and local payroll tax laws and regulations for Canada and the US. - Monitor legislative changes and coordinate updates to system configurations and processes to ensure ongoing compliance. - Maintain a strong understanding of the end-to-end payroll processes for the Canadian and US payrolls, including data input, calculations, deductions, and reporting. - Provide payroll processing support for Canadian and US payrolls during absences or high-volume periods. - Gather information, investigate and resolve payroll system issues in collaboration with the HRIS team and payroll operations. - Validate payroll data integrity and accuracy with regards to the incoming and outgoing data integrations. - Plan, execute, and document testing for all payroll system updates, patches, and integrations to ensure accuracy and minimize risk. - Collaborate with the payroll team to identify system inefficiencies, and recommend improvements to enhance payroll operations and compliance. - Participate in the implementation of new system modules, enhancements, and process changes. - Develop and maintain documentation of payroll system configurations, processes, and compliance procedures. - Assist in training and supporting payroll team members on system functionalities and compliance-related updates. Qualifications - Post-secondary education or equivalent Human Resources/Payroll experience. - Certified Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP), or Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP). - Proven experience in payroll operations, with a strong emphasis on system administration and compliance for both Canadian and US payrolls. - Knowledge of Canadian and US federal, provincial/state, and local payroll regulations and tax laws. - Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret complex payroll calculations and system logic. - Experience with payroll system testing methods and documentation. - Strong analytical skills with an ability to identify issues, analyze data, and propose effective solutions. - Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate effectively with team members. - High level of attention to detail and accuracy. - Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Office Suite.
