Ability to plan, develop, and coordinate multiple projects and events. Familiar with CANVA, WordPress, Contact Contact and Survey Monkey. Has a working knowledge of online scheduling, data tracking, and reporting. Must have demonstrated knowledge in cloud-based information technology services, such as Microsoft 365, Smartsheet, and Dropbox. Special Certification/Licensure: Working Conditions and Physical Effort Environment: Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. Arnett, sarnett@nmsu.edu, 575-646-1299) Internal or External Search: External - Open to all applicants Advertising Summary: The New Mexico State University Department of Sociology is seeking three (3) full-time, 9-month, college-track assistant professors (non-tenure-track) who will assist in achieving the department’s teaching and service mission beginning in the Fall 2026 semester. These positions will work directly with the department head to teach a variety of sociology courses online. These positions have a 4/4 teaching load and include service to the department. Applicants must have a Master’s or Doctorate in Sociology or a closely related field, a minimum of three years of demonstrated experience in online instruction, and evidence of excellence in online teaching at the college or university level. Preference will be given to candidates who have teaching experience in at least three of the following areas: family, youth, education, crime and deviance, culture, sports, food, gender and sexuality, and/or medical sociology. Preference will also be given to candidates with experience developing online courses (such as through Quality Matters or similar frameworks) and a demonstrated commitment to pedagogy and active student engagement.
