Team Lead – Physical Engineering, Utility Substations

• As a Team Lead of Physical Engineering in the Utilities department, you will be responsible for managing a team comprised of engineers, drafters, and designers. • A Team Lead’s (TL’s) primary responsibility will be the accurate, timely, and quality completion of physical/structural substation engineering scopes assigned to the team. • The Team Lead will contribute to the development and refinement of internal processes and workflows that improve quality, consistency, and efficiency across the department. • They are responsible for promoting, implementing, and reinforcing these processes while serving as a mentor and coach to their team. • Team Leads support the professional and technical development of employees, encouraging accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. • Oversees a team producing full detailed-design packages that include general arrangements, elevations, foundation plan and details, structure design and fabrication details, bus and connection details, bill of materials, building plan, conductor stringing tables, fence details, permitting, structure loading diagrams, construction details, and supporting calculation packages. • Manages and coordinates design activities, project planning, team level scheduling and optimization, and coordination between scopes of other disciplines for small to large scale projects to ensure adequate project coverage and operational efficiency. • Works with Directors to develop and maintain Workload Forecasting, ensuring an accurate active project list, milestone dates, and estimate to complete (ETC) hours. • Exemplifies ownership and accountability over your team’s project portfolio, planning, and taking action to improve and maintain team performance. • Oversees the team’s weekly budgets and track project finances to maintain fiscal responsibility. • Addresses and mitigate project risks to prevent escalation and ensure continuity. • Understands NEI processes, best practices, standards, and policies thoroughly and provides guidance to your team as required. • Keeps the team informed about the latest developments and ensures adherence to established standards. • Assesses team strengths and weaknesses, ensuring continuous development through training and coaching. • Maintains expert-level knowledge of NEI's QA/QC processes. • Guides the team through these processes, ensuring all steps are followed and maintaining accountability for compliance on every project. • Supports business development, assists with marketing tasks, and supports the development of project proposals as needed. • Supports the client relationship as required to ensure ongoing satisfaction and collaboration. • Oversees the detailed physical design and engineering for all aspects of electric power substations including generating plants, utility transmission and distribution, and industrial and commercial facilities. • Reviews the work of your team members (engineers, designers, drafters) for general quality, accuracy, and adherence to NEI and/or client standards and processes. • Understands assigned scopes and develops engineering cost estimates, schedules, and assumptions to support change orders in coordination with project manager. • Investigates and resolves technical issues within the team to ensure project continuity. • Prepares a variety of documents and reports associated with projects including cost estimates, budget reports, and proposals. • Attend safety training and adhere to all safety rules and guidelines. • Other duties as assigned.

Substation Engineer – Oil & Gas

• Perform engineering design and analysis of substation projects for various clients within Canada and the US in the industrial space under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer. • Support mutual success with both the clients and NEI by providing quality deliverables that are on time and within the defined budget. • Implement the NEI Quality Assurance Plan. • Train junior level engineers and designers in areas of physical design of electrical substations & BESS facilities. • Write technical go-bys and training documents. Assist with the creation and enforcement of technical standards across the department. • Consult regularly with the Team Lead on key decisions and activities. • Perform the review of detailed physical engineering for all aspects of electric power substations including multi-disciplinary coordination. • Prepare hand and computer-based calculations and models for physical designs. • Prepare a variety of documents and reports associated with projects including cost estimates, budget reports, and proposals for complex projects. • Manage deliverables and deadlines to ensure they are submitted on time for both internal QA/QC deadlines and external deadlines to client. • Ensure that client requirements, specifications, and expectations are being met.
Development Engineer – Data Centers

• Execute development engineering design activities, system performance modeling, and related CAD design activities by coordinating with discipline-specific (electrical, civil, structural) design teams • Review and oversee the delivery of preliminary designs (0–30%) and feasibility studies • Maintain professional understanding of all applicable codes, standards, and construction practices • Act as a liaison between design teams and relevant internal and external stakeholders • Work cross-functionally across departments to identify and align team members across disciplines to ensure project work is completed and submitted in a timely manner • Maintain strong and responsive company-client relationships, particularly for communication related to specific assignments and meeting topics • Ensure adherence to company and client QA/QC standards • Assist in the development, implementation, and enforcement of departmental Standard Best Practices (SBPs) • Support the development, maintenance, and improvement of development-phase performance analysis tools • Work with proposal teams and subject matter experts (SMEs) to establish proposal pricing • Provide engineering and technical support to members of the Business Development & Project Services teams • Provide pre-sales technical support to customers and NEI outside sales teams • Support business development through Seller-Doer activities, including marketing support and proposal preparation as needed • Attend conferences, training workshops, seminars, and continuing education activities as appropriate to maintain quality of work and support professional advancement • Maintain high ethical and professional standards • Attend required safety training and adhere to all safety rules and guidelines • Perform other responsibilities as assigned
• responsible for performing electrical power system modeling and analysis primarily for renewable facilities that encompass solar, wind, battery storage generation projects and substation design projects • Creates and develops quality studies and reports including but not limited to short circuit, reactive power/load flow, arc flash, dynamic, transient, harmonic (pre & post), interconnection compliance, ampacity, grounding, as well as other related studies and calculations • Assists with Client contacts and communication pertaining to specific assignments and meetings. • Maintain strong and responsive Company-Client relationships • Maintains a strong understanding and applications of applicable Codes and Standards • Maintains high ethical and professional standards • Attends conferences, training workshops, seminars, regular undergraduate, and graduate classes as appropriate for advancement and as required to maintain quality of work. • Attend safety training and follow safety rules and guidelines • May occasionally assist with performing equipment, control system, communications, troubleshooting, and relay field testing and start-up and commissioning services • Other job-related responsibilities as assigned • Secondary responsibilities may include checking and/or performing detailed design of all aspects of electrical power systems to include one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, control and relaying schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA, conduit, and cable sizing/routing, grounding design, writing of equipment specifications, project and construction cost estimates, and project scheduling
