• Interns may choose to work remotely. • Under the supervision of the legal director, the legal intern’s work plan will include a mixture of assignments that support the League’s litigation, legal advocacy, and policy work. • Legal interns support the Litigation Team in developing and active litigation by preparing legal memoranda, attending meetings with League leaders and co-counsel, drafting blogs, and more. • Legal interns may also support the League’s policy work, but the focus of the internship will be on the League’s litigation and legal advocacy.
• Manage and coordinate a multi-state docket of federal and state litigation where LWV is a plaintiff, intervenor, or amicus. • Collaborate and coordinate with legal partners, allied organizations, and pro bono law firms on prospective and active litigation. • Partner with the Director of Legal & Research to develop and implement LWV’s litigation strategy. • Advise and support prospective and ongoing court litigation for state and local Leagues, including evaluation of requests and alignment with organizational priorities. • Oversee the Litigation team in tracking, updating, and reporting ongoing LWV litigation.
• The Director, Direct Response and Digital leads the League’s multi-channel direct marketing program to grow, steward, and retain a broad base of national supporters for LWVUS and LWVEF. • This role oversees strategy, execution, and performance management for direct mail, digital fundraising, donor acquisition, sustainer programs, telemarketing, list rental/exchange, and donor acknowledgment operations. • Develop, implement, and manage the annual direct response fundraising strategy and budget for LWVUS and LWVEF, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and long-term revenue goals. • Use data analytics, industry benchmarking, and best practices in nonprofit direct marketing to inform segmentation, creative development, donor journeys, and channel strategy. • Oversee annual revenue and expense projections, conduct ongoing performance monitoring, and prepare regular reporting for the National Development Director, Finance Committee, and Board stakeholders. • Manage all phases of direct mail, digital campaigns, telemarketing, sustainer acquisition/retention, and list rental/exchange activity. • Ensure copy, design, and audience segmentation reflect the League’s messaging platform, values, and inclusive storytelling guidelines. • Maintain a high level of data accuracy and synchronization across the League’s donor database, email/digital platforms, and caging/processing systems. • Collaborate with Data and Finance teams to reconcile revenue, review invoices, and ensure accurate coding, batching, and reporting.

• Draft, build, format, and schedule email campaigns across multiple national platforms. • Execute audience targeting and campaign setup with strong attention to detail. • Maintain a consistent visual and editorial standard aligned with LWVUS guidelines. • Support list hygiene, segmentation, and subscriber organization across databases. • Assist with contact uploads, tagging, and maintenance processes. • Track key email metrics including open rates, click-through rates, and engagement trends. • Prepare basic performance reports to support continuous improvement. • Assist with A/B testing, subject line comparisons, and message optimization. • Help maintain documented best practices for improving deliverability and engagement. • Coordinate with digital, communications, organizing, and development teams to ensure email alignment with national campaigns and calls to action. • Support staff in preparing materials and assets needed for email deployment.
