As the Team Lead, you will lead and manage a team of software developers, ensuring efficient project execution, high-quality deliverables, and effective collaboration across cross-functional teams. You will provide mentorship, remove roadblocks, and drive the team's focus on impactful projects while promoting a culture of continuous improvement and employee growth. What you'll be doing - Direct and manage a team of developers, providing guidance, support, and mentoring to ensure team success. - Proactively identify and eliminate obstacles for the team, thus fostering a productive and efficient work environment. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure projects are delivered on time while maintaining our quality standards. - Collaborate effectively with the product team to manage scope and deliverables for the technical side of the roadmap. - Make independent decisions for the team, demonstrating the ability to handle complex management situations and provide effective resolutions. - Contribute to the company's technical strategy and ensure our technical infrastructure is scalable, robust, and secure. - Develop using Jade, C# .NET, SQL/NoSQL databases, and Azure cloud technologies. - Work on initiatives to modernize and refactor core modules to improve maintainability and performance. - Identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary changes. - Design, write, and maintain comprehensive unit and integration tests to ensure system reliability. - Conduct regular meetings with direct reports, providing constructive feedback on their work, assisting team members in setting goals, and working with the engineering manager to ensure employee growth and retention objectives are met. - Use AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity and code quality. - Develop and implement training and mentorship programs for developers at all levels. Who we're looking for - Over 7 years of experience as a Back-End Software Developer (Jade and C#, a strong asset); - Leadership skills, demonstrating the ability to guide and mentor team members. - Strong understanding of best practices in software engineering, including design patterns, testing methodologies, and agile/waterfall development processes. - Proficient in producing quality and performance metrics on the SDLC process and implementing improvements based on the analysis. - Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to proactively identify and resolve obstacles for the team. - Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, focusing on key initiatives. - Effective collaboration and communication skills, fostering strong relationships with cross-functional teams, including product management. - Experience in making independent decisions and handling complex management situations, considering both technical and business aspects. - Proven track record in providing constructive feedback, setting goals, and contributing to the growth and retention of team members. - Passion for software development and a track record of continuous learning and growth. - Ability to understand and extend complex, deeply coupled codebases. - Strong experience writing and maintaining robust unit and integration tests. - Strong experience working with monolithic systems and integrating legacy systems with modern APIs or services. - Experience with GoLang, React, Blazor; as well as knowledge of the Canadian mortgage industry and its related financial institutions are a plus. - Time Zone: Preference for candidates able to consistently work within the EST time zone, as the team is based in the GTA area and works closely in real time to ensure strong collaboration. As Data Analyst your primary focus is the administration, development, and optimization of our reporting ecosystem. You will serve as the bridge between legacy and modern reporting, taking full ownership of our SSRS request queue while simultaneously building high-impact dashboards in Power BI. This role is ideal for a hands-on developer who is comfortable managing a busy ticket queue and driving the adoption of modern analytics. Who You Are - A "Doer": You are comfortable jumping into a fast-paced environment and taking immediate ownership of the reporting backlog. - A Visual Storyteller: You don't just put charts on a page; you build dashboards that tell a clear story and drive action. - The "Admin" Mindset: You enjoy the organization and governance required to keep a BI environment running smoothly. Key Responsibilities SSRS Development & Maintenance (Core Responsibility) - Ownership of Requests: Handle all incoming requests for SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS). This includes scoping and building new reports from scratch based on business needs. - Change Management: Execute change requests for existing SSRS reports, optimizing queries and adjusting layouts to match evolving business processes. - Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues with report rendering, data accuracy, or subscription delivery in a timely manner. Power BI Development & Administration - Modern Visualization: Design, develop, and deploy advanced Power BI dashboards that are intuitive, performant, and visually compelling. - Environment Admin: Oversee Power BI Service administration, including workspace management, security roles (RLS), and gateway configurations. - Data Modeling: Translate business requirements into clean, functional data models (DAX/Power Query) that serve as a "single source of truth." Stakeholder Collaboration & Governance - Requirement Gathering: Work directly with business units to understand their KPIs and translate them into technical reporting specifications. - Data Integrity: Partner with the Data Engineering team to validate underlying data in SQL Server and Azure SQL. - Best Practices: Champion reporting standards, ensuring all new builds follow internal UI/UX and data governance guidelines. Required Skills & Qualifications Technical Expertise - Experience: 3–5 years of experience in data analysis and BI reporting, preferably in Financial Services or FinTech. - SSRS Proficiency: Strong ability to design, develop, and deploy paginated reports using SSRS (Visual Studio / Report Builder). You should be comfortable writing complex T-SQL queries / stored procedures to feed these reports. - Power BI Mastery: Expert knowledge of Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service (Admin). Proficiency in DAX and Power Query (M) is essential. - Database Skills: Strong proficiency in SQL (T-SQL) for data extraction and a solid understanding of relational database structures (SQL Server / Azure SQL). Soft Skills - Queue Management: Ability to prioritize and manage a backlog of reporting requests independently. - Attention to Detail: A "perfectionist" mindset when it comes to data accuracy and visual alignment. - Communication: Ability to explain data trends and technical limitations to non-technical business users. Time Zone: Must be located in or able to work consistently within the EST time zone (9:00 AM - 5:00 PM) to ensure synchronized collaboration with our national teams.
